Dimash is a genius! A great storyteller and paradigm breaker! Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality... Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is: A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures. Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing... The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details. As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone! The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! The impeccable editing with precise cuts that complete the script, simple and extremely efficient effects and masterful performances: Dimash (the seductive and tormented vampire, Polina Guzieva (the passionate journalist), Manuel de Jesús Sánchez Sotolongo (the sinister butler) and the harem of soulless vampires (Angelin Sapozhnikova, Valeriya Lyasheva, Andreana Tkachenko, Maria Aristatarkhova, Lilia Kiser and Klinnyushina Alina), superb! Dimash artistically plays with our memories. The recording is Interview with a Vampire. DK's hair and outfit is a takeoff of Michael Jackson's Thriller. And for those old folks the butler is like Lurch from the Adams Family TV show where snapping of the fingers was part of the parody. Remember Dimash went to the USA to study production in staging like camera angles to enhance his performances. He was sassy and sexy without being campy which drew you in. Dimash is doing everything to please everyone in the entire World. The Western part of the world have a problem because they want him to sing songs like the Western Culture does. So he’s changing a little to accommodate everyone. He wants to do another concert in America but they won’t let him because his music doesn’t sound like everybody else’s which I think is a shame. Yeah, I bop my head to the beat of some Westerners song only because the band moves me. There are in my opinion very few American singers who can sing. Some have gotten better but no one has been professionally trained for 25 years. Dimash put in the work and he works hard every day of the week. I believe the changes in some of his newer songs are created only to please Western’s. He’s Dr. Kudiabergen not just Dimash. He’s the only singer that I listen to. I do housework while playing American music so I don’t have to listen to the poor microphone techniques, heavy breathing, straining to get a note out, watching women half naked shaking their asses. I just listen to the band but I want to watch and listen to Dimash. I’m almost 67 and have been following him since he first appeared on what he calls “the adult stage” in China at age 22. He will be 30 on May 24th so don’t forget to wish him a Happy Birthday. He’s the type of person that we all should be like. Great reaction as always. Thank you.
