No dude, I think you’re wrong here. On the contrary, players like MS and Kohli are the reason behind people not switching off tv after Sachin Gets out. People actually never believed a big chase could be achieved without the contributions from Sachin, until some of them missed the match for few hours when Sachin got out that glorious night in 2011. Even after winning the World Cup didn’t made us the powerhouse of Cricket. But somehow we are powerhouse now, even though we haven’t had won a major ice trophy in more than a decade we are powerhouse. And you know who is scared of India the most, The Aussies. Those 2 series wins in Australia had hampered Australian Ego that’s where India Ego became a thing. And I’m sure this time around there were plenty of Aussies who all had back up plans on the Final’s night, just in case India finishes things off early.

During Sachin's era for opening batsman, ODI bat avg above 35 was considered great Great odi players like Gilchrist averaged only 35 and Jayasuriya averaged only 32 while Sachin averaged 44 which was excellent those days. We can never compare Sachin and Kohli ODI stats, that's simply a childish stupid thing.

I watched this whole indian innings standing outside tv showroom in pune.. Was going for dinner but stayed for Sachin.. It was literally unbelievable tha way he way toying with australian bowlers.. It was like revenge on WC03 final.. Unluckily fall short to win.. As usual did not get support from remaining ones.. I was so disappointed that couldn't had dinner that day.. But.. In 2003 WC final, he wanted to dominate like this and unlucky he got out in first over, else that day Sehwag and Sachin would’ve got India home. So, here in 2009, he didn’t misjudge anything and played finest knocks in odi history. But Indian tail couldn’t score run-a-ball to get home victory.

This was one of the ferocious innings by Sachin, at 35 he played like 25.. and the rest of the team played like 50 yr old and couldn’t get the remaining 18 odd runs!! He was better than Inzaman, Babar, Sangakkara, Jayawardane, Dravid etc. Sachin averages only 21 in ODI when Mcgrath and Brett lee was playing together and 32 in test. Brian averaged 30 and 40 plus respectively. If Brian had taken birth in India, he would have been celebrated as the best sportsman of all time, let alone the best cricketer. Money talks.

This is why Indian team of that era was called Tendulkar plus Ten delcos. (In Kerala we call nincompoops as delcos)
