Exactly right. My daughter did the same. She's been sober and a property manager for 8 years now. She had to hit bottom first.

Not everyone is a drug addict or alcoholic. And getting a decent job to where you can afford housing depends on where you live. There's no getting your shit together when housing is whacked and pricing people out.

It took lots of work and Sacrifices. No Kids, No Pool, No Pets. At 70 I just discovered a new word, Vacation. I worked full-time 60-80 hours a week since I was 15 years old. Full-time regular High School followed by 4 years in the Military during the Vietnam War Era followed by Community College with a little help from the GI Bill. When I retired from my 3rd career as a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner working in a large hospital I was still averaging 70 hours a week at 66 years of age. Life is about work, responsibility and sacrifice. Life isn't about fulfillment. Life's about the Responsibilities of Adult Living.

Maybe more tax breaks for landlords to help subsidize affordable housing. Mortgages, insurance and utilities on rental housing is not free.

Exactly. And criminals and drug addicts. These are not your typical "down on your luck" type people who just genuinely had bad luck and need some help. These people WANT to be out there to be free to do whatever they want and not participate in society. They actively refuse help so they can continue causing problems in the community, and a lot of the times are severely mentally troubled.

My wife and I can't afford to live in this country anymore. We don't have any kind of vice and our mental health is great. we are old and poor

Exactly we are buying into their reality. We are told that they are so helpless that they can't be expected to clean up after themselves. Which is bull. They have the energy to drag all of that junk to their birds nest of an encampment. Therefore they have the energy to throw out their trash. They have broken their contract with us by trashing our parks, and sidewalks.

Do people who live in houses are immune to hoarding and trashing? I think not! Everything becomes a treasure, when you're super poor. Homeless people live in city's because it's the only source of food and showers,! You can't walk twenty miles, when your starving and leave all your " treasures" to other starving thieves! We need work programs like Roosevelt had during the great depression. Did Roosevelt put them in prison? Did he put them in mental institutions? I THINK NOT! To much self righteousness and confusing thinking seems to be the order of the day! Giving up and doing drugs are nothing but symptoms when you Iose all hope for a decent future. Maybe Californians need to stop voting for extreme leftist democrats who introduce rampant regulations preventing housing from being built, and horrible policies like rent control that keeps raising the cost of rent. You know the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Maybe if we replaced the democrats and their horrible policies, like $20 minimum wage, then a sandwich and drink wouldn't cost $40 and we wouldn't be a paycheck away from financial ruin.

I believe rent is expensive because property tax is high, maintenance costs are high and of course some renters are over using the rental law that’s why the rent is so high. It’s all because current politicians are greedy keep asking too much.
