Politicians now are trying to incriminate the homeless. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment. Being poor is not a crime. Incriminating the homeless is just going to lead them to an indefinite jail sentence. I foresee a bunch of neglect, abuse, unnecessary lengthy sentences from the DoJ. Many years ago, worked at the VA Hospital in LA where I saw a bunch of homeless and disabled Veterans living in squalor bordering the VA. The government literally does nothing to help them. I also recall, attending UCLA Extension where I saw a bunch of homeless people nearby. I noticed all the homeless were elderly!

I waited almost 2 years in Florida for a housing program for homeless Veterans. By the time i got a place i couldn't afford it anymore.

I feel sorry for her, but she is not typical of the homeless I see everyday... like the guy in military fatigues who decided to park himself on my neighbor's porch the other morning and was out of his mind on drugs. If nobody in her family is willing to let her at least sleep at night inside their home, something must be wrong because that's terrible to not help out your blood. Besides that, all these homeless tiny homes and other transitional houses need to be investigated and looked into because the public is being lied to. People don't care enough until it's them and theirs, but sometimes not even then. We as a society need to do better. Every person should have shelter, toilet/shower and food and water.

What arrogance to deny a poverty stricken person the dignity of a comfortable spot on the ground where they still have to keep looking over their shoulder hoping to defend themselves against the next strong armed robbery, where they are feasted upon by the insects and parasites common to dogs and cats and living under conditions a hundred years in the past. These are still human beings. This is truly appalling...I saw the beginnings of this back in 1986. I went up to Vacaville, California for work and I went to pull off to rest area and it was full it was like all these folks are tired too? I was sitting for awhile no one was moving outside there vehicles and I realized that many people where just sitting there...I left to continue my journey...to the east bay area.... that was around the time the navy base was closing - Alameda-. These folks looked to be all ages...and they where not people of color..I gasped and thought...now they do not even care about their own...but in actuality they never did. America land of the free? Home of the brave? Brave for what? There's a small amount of time to do the correct thing....but I guess its hard to care about other people when you are knee deep in the throws of a large platter of greed....the sauce is just too savory...the vices one has are being felt more terrific. The thing is 1% .....of wealth...I know you would say oh I won this fare and square..... but damn you know people are in dire straits and the best you can do is nothing? What about that idea you may have come too...that put you in the 1%...you can't come up with a glorious achievement that would facilitate others out of the stagnant stench they are in..... ? My even the Lords did better by their subjects to see them in housed conditions of dignity and allowed them privacy to do personal things for themselves. One thing though....enjoy yourselves its the human measure of mankind...for mankind..the score 1-0.

This is the outcome of dismantling churches, and the sense of community they bring. When my grandmother was younger her husband died, and she was pregnant with her 4th child. The church stepped up and helped her with everything. Even when she was a senior the church is always sending food, and other gifts of help. We in America have CHOSEN to displace the Church with government, and that is not the way our constitution is set up! Where is that woman's family? Friends? Children? This is horrific in so many ways. My family has taken in homeless, widows, and helps everyone that they can, NEVER WRITING OFF a dime of it for "charity"! I know they're bad people that called themselves Christian, but I have met MORE righteous, kind people in the church than not.

I don’t know her story, but on the face of it, she had 60 years to accumulate wealth to see herself through her later years. She’s coherent. Speaks well. I’m not a professional, but I can’t pick up on any mental health issues that would preclude her from having had a productive life. I learned long ago…I’m 65…that the world feeds on the poor and stupid. Don’t be poor and don’t be stupid.

These ladies are an exception. Most are drug addicts or have mental problems that refuse treatment or to follow rules. Something has to get done to keep our streets safer and clean. Not sure ticketing will help though. I hope there is a way people like these ladies so that the are prioritized. If people show they can be productive in society, definitely should be helped get on their feet.
