Visiting Australia for the year. As soon as I introduce myself, anyone over 40yrs old INSTANTLY starts singing this song... I finally gave in a looked it up. Yowza!

I'm only 40 but grew up loving my parents music.. Late 50s to early 2000, since then music just crap. Grew up with Johns later stuff on radio ...but softest spot for this 'Johnny' era

My late mum's name was Sadie. We moved to Australia from England the year this song came out. People would sing it to her (as would we) wherever she went. 😊

Poor John, this song haunted him for years and was a barrier to being taken seriously in the 70s and 80s. Luckily he was able to break back through in 86 and people finally appreciated his enormous voice and talent.

Not to mention the moves. He was King Of Pop back in Australia during the 70s, and going by this he was king of the dance floor too.

Remember this as a kid and thought John was so hot! He still kept his looks and his voice just got better with age. Admittedly I prob wouldn't go to one of his concerts as I'm into different music but I do admire his talent.

This was the song that kicked him off, bubble gum at its best/worst. The songs from the 80's were really quite remarkable and i didnt believe it was him when they came out, a yuge diff from Sadie. Didya see the height of the stilts hes on OMG, ha ha ha, hes a shorty.

Classic white boy dancing as demonstrated by Eddie Murphy in Raw. I think Rick Astley may have been channeling Johnny, except he didn't quite look like his arms were superglued to his sides and his feet nailed to the floor like Johnny.

Yes, and who didn't have a Sadie vacuum cleaner in the 70's? For those who don't know, it was a 5 gallon drum on wheels, motor in the top. It had a huge capacity, making it ideal for the home workshop. Marketed as the "GE Sadie", we all knew it was named after this song, although officially, nothing was ever said. We still have one.

This is the first time me hearing this song, because I found this was John Farnhams first song so had to look it up and I had to double check that was his voice. I dont know if it was just me, but it didn't sound like John originally and took a while before it sunk in. Maybe it was just the Audio quality, but his voice sure sounded different later on in life.
