I just searched “Mike Rowe Safety Third” and was disappointed to find out this is not a book. Love your stuff.

A motto of mine is "I try to think harder than I work". I figure my brain will probably outlast my back.

That's the truth... repeating the mantra doesn't help, you're your own best hero and first responder. Training, fun & safety.

Mike, a guy named Bill Whittle did a video with this theme as well. Innovation doesn't take place if safety is always paramount but it is always in mind.

My life motto has been safety 3rd for decades. Sort of a silly statement but also that we have to do things. If safety is most important we wouldn't leave the safety of home.

I agree with Mike Rowe. There are too may occasions that "Safety First" mentality gets in the way of just doing the job with common sense. Work hard, Hustle harder, and Kill everything.

I remember someone telling me about a workplace in Texas, which has a sign that said "you have the right, and the responsibility, to a safe work environment". I hate safety theater; the banners, hoopla, stupid virtue signaling...

We got to the insane safety requirements from a historical lack of ethical people in positions of power. That is a tough thing to imagine we fixed along the line.

The guy that was the safety consultant for our company a few years ago started every safety meeting with this line. How important is your safety to you?

This is a "dirty truth" to Mike Rowe because he is ignorant and sarcastic. The reality is that safety is the responsibility of line supervision / management. All the time . . . every day. This is why supervisors and managers who allow employees to be seriously hurt or killed can be put in prison. So the boat Captain can say one thing, but at the end of the day, he could lose his business, get fined, and go to jail. There's no room to debate this. It's the simple truth. I am a CSP / CIH with a long work history in construction, industry, and yes . . . even maritime.

Could this be edited to include a title screen? Or improve visual quality if possible (I realize probably not)

Me thinks, if there's no producers around and your life is just your life... It would naturally be safety first but for MGMT. What makes work? What makes dirty? What makes a soul and the fractal of free will we're currently and continuously imploding and exploding into?

Safety is situation awareness, not some outfit that makes it harder to do your job.

The reason "safety first" is a thing is so practices are put in place not to save just the individual but also any bystanders (or product) the "safety third" worker may unintentionally damage, or worse. If your employer practices "safety third", get the hell out.
