I lost my only child to suicide. I actually witnessed it. I was powerless to stop him. He was 21. He showed zero signs of depression. I've gone back to school to become a chemical dependency counselor. It helped me to realize I am not powerful enough to change anyone or stop anyone...i am only an instrument. It has helped me tremendously to develop faith and a relationship with a power greater than me. Thank you for your video and thank you for letting me share.

I have never been able to make a safety plan. I was asked the first time when I was in my 30's. I myself am a healthcare clinician & a side from having great difficulty in creating a plan that I believed in, I also have seen how ineffective safety plans are for those who are REALLY struggling. I lost one client to suicide because he was so very depressed he could not 'buy into,' and had no interest in creating a safety plan colaboratively or by himself. When someone is intent on not living anymore? All I know is that they are not interested in plans to live. Last word - up-to-date clinical studies show that safety plans can be highly ineffective.

I have thoughts and a plan

The only thing that works for me is Chinese medicine. Obviously Western medicine has its place but for certain thoughts and plans, I go to a Chinese doctor so I can stay safe because family and friends are ineffective. acupuncture and massage in my mind is always great and always something to look forward to every so often. Then I can just enjoy living my life between massage and acupuncture sessions. I know what my other option would be if I didn't go to these Chinese doctors.
