I've seen guides to descaling where it was recommended to leave the descaling solution in the boiler for an hour or so before rinsing with clean water. Not necessary in your opinion?

I've only been advised this if you have a blockage somewhere in the machine. But you'd be fine with an hour I'd say for any situation.

Can a citric acid solution work as the descaling agent? If so, what concentration would you recommend?

About 20g per litre of water is a good mix for day-to-day citric acid descaling.

Hello I only have a one question, Where did you buy that water tank filter? We have quite different one and barely fits inside of the tank.

I think you probably have the 2nd generation machine. Check the Sage website for the accessories to see if you have the same they are listing.

I have "Sage the barista pro". How often do you think it needs descaling ?

I'd say every 6 months and you should be good!

I'd say every 3 to 6 months. 3 months if you're a big coffee user :-)

Unfortunately after doing all these steps my descale light still won't turn off.

I did this process, but now I feel like my coffee tastes bitter all the time. Any ideas?

Try pre-warming the machine (doing an empty shot) and see if that improves.

@@gordi555 Hi. Thanks for the info. I actually managed to figure out that the problem was, I used the wrong process. After doing a proper descale and clean me, everything tastes just fine, now :)

@@ROBOROBOROBOROBO There are 2 options on the machine. One is a descale and the other is a cleaning cycle. I didn't know there was more than one.

You can use just natural vinegar. Just rinse wel. En flush well.

Sorry but this is wrong. You need to put the machine into desecaling mode by holding double cup then turning the machine on.

Isn't that just the normal cleaning mode with a tablet and the rubber disc? I've got another video on that.

Correct power off one and two buttons simultaneously power on and off it goes just manually for steamer and hot water .

@@gordi555 nope, that’s a different mode to clean the backwash and the bulkhead. The mode I’m talking about water comes from the steam wand as steam with the descaler water is ineffective. Also you’re not telling the machine that you have descaled if you use your method. Sorry.

Agreed with Pete. Just checked the manual and can confirm there is a two separate cleaning programs for descaling and cleaning the machine.

I’m surprised this video is still up. This method will be damaging people’s steam wands. You should really update the video or delete and put up a new one. Happy to talk you through the right method.
