Fascinating. Quite a coup to get a guy of Stocks pedigree. Obviously he has remained his own man throughout. Refreshing. His comments on Billy are intriguing. You almost feel sorry for Billy still having to perform at 85 to feed the bloodsuckers who created him. Like so many of them - Stones, Dylan, Young et al. But that’s what happens when you sell your soul. Great work, Mike.

Right. I believe when they really get their big chance, they will have it explained that the business will make sure the " character" becomes famous/ successful etc. and they will be " allowed" to play him. They know they're signing up for " life". Bob Dylan ( Robert Zimmermann), when he was asked why he's still doing it, said, ,he was holding up his part of the deal , by continuing ( to play the character Bob Dylan).

I agree…today, I saw a YT clip recommended to me- something about Keith Richards warming up backstage somewhere recently, but all I saw was this very old, crotchety & frail man hunched over an electric guitar - looked like senile abuse to be honest. (also didn’t know KR is only 5’7”…funny how ‘the stage’ amplifies one’s stature)

Much appreciated interview Mike. Amazing, back in the day, I thought SAW "were" the business, certainly didn't think of them as bucking the system. Incredible. And that Mike Stock talks reasonably openly about it when he knows, even now , what he's potentially forfeiting. Excellent show. The song Mike Stock is talking about " You Spin me" , has over 200 million on KZfaq.

I must have missed this a few weeks ago. Thanks 👍 An outstanding, *rabbit out of the hat* moment Mike! This gent was so humble. I've of course heard of him. Couldn't fail to, in the mid to late eighties. Charts were full of their songs. I won't bore you with the artists. You're already aware of them. I saw Queen at Wembley, so sorry can't remember the year. Mercury was hopeless on three numbers. His voice was rough. I was near the front. My friend swore to me, that he was miming at one stage; and Roger Taylor covered his vocal, unseen at the back. I didn't believe him. However my mind went back a bit, to the mid 70s, I saw them and I remember the band couldn't recreate the sound. The difference? Technology. Coming together nicely about the impostor. Bye-bye mate. I'll catch up with the other stuff you've included; another time. Many thanks again.

I admit to disliking Stock, Aitkin & Waterman's music at the time. It was not my 'thing'. Kylie and the like. I remember the 'outrage' from 'real' musicians (who probably weren't even playing on their own records) that S, A & W were 'hogging' the charts. There was a lot of sneering and snobbery. After listening to Mike's side of the story, I completely understand why. What an eye-opener! I was oblivious to any of it. How brilliant that he has been watching Sage of Quay and is prepared to speak honestly about the fab four! Superb!

And like Mike said, if I sit down and work it out on piano or guitar, I can eventually remember bits and pieces, but basically the songs I wrote in my 90s bands have faded from my memory. Side note: It is interesting how sometimes if I happen to try to play one of my old songs, which is very rare, I can revisit the headspace I was in when I wrote it. It’s an interesting phenomenon. I’m sure it’s common amongst writers. Anyway, nice comment. Be well! 🕊

To me it sounds like an, 'I dare you', between Billy and the TPTB, for whatever reason, probably money/control issues. Hi Mike really great interview thanks. I came across a video on KZfaq of the Dave Clark 5 performing on the Ed Sullivan show where the Backing track failed. There's some interesting comments from a man named Bjorn Shigg who uploaded the video: saying Dave Clark took songwriting credit when the other band members wrote the songs or he paid songwriters for songs and put his name on the credits. Also he states that Dave Clark didn't drum on the recorded tracks or live for that matter. Back then the record industry relied on managers, record brands/companies, Vinyl and Cd just came out... All was well organised to make it a succes.. Then came napster who changed the game.. a lot of money stopped coming in due to free downloads.. on internet... It never really recovred the music industry... form that Kazaa, winamp, limewire era early 2000s.. They tried to harnass it via Spotify etc but this furter stiffend the music branc, market.. Music blomed form rock and roll era 1950s from bill Haley, andrew sisters and Elvis int fullo on in 1970s... aftre whichthe synthesizer and drumcomputer were introduced... Which also gave Music industry an extra life, decade or 2 till 2000s.. These days.. Taylor swift.. whta the hell is that... she looks weird, dont play music and is a billionaire.. says also enough compared to 1980s milionaires Madonna or MJ that the dollar is falling in worth..

Firstly Paul Mccartney is 80 not 85. Agree his voice is nowhere near as strong as it was but his performance at Glastonbury was roundly praised by most critics. Secondly the whole video argument really started 40 years ago with MTV and not when KZfaq started. So there is nothing new there. Mccartney has written more number one hits than anyone else both in the UK and US, with the Beatles, Wings and other artists with all due respect..

And Jesus walked on ground that belonged to the occultic Roman Empire. Does that mean that Jesus was tarnished too? Of course not! What this man says about the Catholic Church is sheer nonsense.

@@MikeWilliamsPaulIsDeadChannel I did. And I prayed a lot. That's why I eventually left Protestantism and became Catholic. The Bible came from God via the Catholic Church. "To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant." ~ John Henry Cardinal Newman (former Protestant) "I would not believe in the Gospel if the Authority of the Catholic Church did not move me to do so." ~ St. Augustine

@@MikeWilliamsPaulIsDeadChannel One more thing I'd like to add -- as Taylor Marshall put it well, we would never leave Christ because there was a Judas among His Disciples. So we don't leave Christ's Church because there are Judases in His Church. I do think your videos are very well done, though.
