For all people that are seeing this video this comment from another KZfaq video explains why in some cases no water flows out of the piston (it is not my comment, I am just posting it here for visibility): "I got off the phone with an espresso expert from Breville/Sage. She informed me that the Breville Infuser (and several other models including the Barista) SHOULD now have a SOLID cleaning disc, WITHOUT a hole in it. She said that now, the cleaning process is VERY different than it previously was. The new method is to have the cleaning tablet and solution, dissolve and backflow through the machine, and distribute the cleaning solution into the DRIP TRAY and NOT come out of the portafilter, at all. So, there is no problem with either the machine, or the cleaning disc, they are operating as they are now supposed to."

in sages video the tablet is similarly dissolved with some pieces left, they said to go for a 2nd run in this case if it's not fully dissolved

I didn’t know which 1 CUP Filter to use; does not specify in manual but SAGE had another cleaning video that informed me. Might be worth just mentioning this in description, thanks.

1 cup filter, it didn’t say use dual wall 1 cup filter.hope it helps

@@cak6165 there are 2 different cup filters, one for fresh ground coffee and one for pre ground. I think he meant which of these he should use.

Just don't forget to flush a few drags of water (coffee cups) without your piston in it. If you take a coffee straight after the cleaning you are drinking the cleaning chemicals.

Thanks for the demonstration. However, the clean me procedure does not follow the discription in the manual, because it states that the water must drain from/through the portafilter. The cleaning disk is not functioning properly. Apparently it is compltele closed. I suppose there must be an opening in there. Sorry for my bad English.

The service department of Sage informed when asked that the manual is no longer correct. No more water should come out of the Portafilter. The cleaning disk is therefore no longer provided with a hole. Because I doubted the correct functioning of the Clean Me function on the video, I now bring the information of Sage to your attention. The video thus shows the correct operation.

I know what you mean - I have a newer model but nothing drains out of the portafilter as described in the manual. It all just floats above the cleaning disk. I think Sage have described it incorrectly? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Erm? This is solely cleaning the coffee holder. What about the integral of the machine? Doesn’t it make more sense to add a descaler into the water tank to clean out the whole system?

That is a different cleaning cycle. The machine also shows when descaling is needed

I've been doing the cleaning cycle twice to ensure the tablet has fully dissolved. I dont know if this is correct or not

It is correct to do the cleaning process multiple times, until the tablet is fully dissolved. The newer machines pull back the water so it comes out at the bottom

Thats normal. It basically cleans the machine internally and any water from the reservoir goes into the drip tray
