This is NOT currently the way it looks. The recent models do not let water through, rather it goes back into the machine and to the drip tray. I was a bit concerned that no water was coming out and then discovered this fact.

Yes, there are two versions of the cleaning disk that exist. Process remains the same.

Lifestyle Lab why don’t you show a video then of the new machines. Very confusing watching something that is very different to how the new machines actually work

Great video. Thank you! Just a few questions on the filter… When you replace the water filter with those cheaper filters: (a) how long do you leave the filters to rinse first, and (b) which side of the filter should face up?

I generally descale my machine at the same time as i back flush my machine. I just run the whole tank through the cleaning mode. Then clean out the tank and refill it with fresh water then run the whole talk through normal blank shots to clean out the descaling solution.

My breville also came with an alan key to take the shower screen off, but I've never actually managed to pull the screen off each time I take the hex screw out. Wondering if you ever bother taking that off / cleaning under the shower screen?

It's well worth doing. Mine has quite a build up under there. It's abit awkward to get out.

My machene is a solis (exaxt same feether) but when i run the cycle the water never runs out of the machene and it just builds up pressure.... and than lets it back in the system.... Is this bad? I mean the porterfilter is locked ith that seal so how do peopple have water runnong trough thier piston?

The new versions do not have a hole in the cleaning disk. The water is exiting directly into the drip tray. Perfectly normal

My barista express doesn't do this. No fluid comes out, it just goes to max pressure and then stops.

This is not a problem. Newer models cleaning discs do not have a hole for the water to escape.

@@LifestyleLab_ Ok but I'm left with a half dissolved disc in the portafilter afterwards. Doesn't look like it's done anything...?

@@Daveyboyroy If after all 5 cycles complete and the machine beeps 3 times there is still some tablet left in the portafilter, the cleaning cycle must be repeated again. As per the machine instruction manual

My cleaner also does this. Doesn’t seem to let water through and leaves cleaner MH tablet residue. Really doesn’t look like it is cleaning or working properly

I was looking to this video, but its not the tablets very expensive? My Clean Lights its On like in every 2 weeks. I make more or less 10 coffees a day.

10 coffees a day is a LOT. That does not seem unreasonable to clean every two weeks. In reality, should be even more frequently

Not every day! The light will automatically come back on after a certainly number of shots to remind you. Every couple of weeks should be plenty depending on how often you use the machine.

@@LifestyleLab_ In the older version and in the new version of Sage Barista Express, the cleaning process is the same only cleaning disk is different, right? So I can use Cleaning Disk without a central hole and will not explode?
