Sailing backwards against the trade winds has historically been very difficult, and as we start our 800 nautical mile trek back eastward for the Tuamotus and Marquesas Islands, we see why!
We encounter just about everything mother nature and Neptune can throw at us, from calms to massive squalls- we get it all! But at the same time, we are still able to sail easterly so all in all its a very successful sail!

I'm amazing how you both sail in the open ocean with all kinds of stuff sitting on countertops, etc. My monohull experiences had everything locked down as we rock and rolled. I guess cats tend to be more stable? As I've said before you folks do an amazing video editing and cinematography. Puts a smile on my face.

You guys always make my day. And if you did offer a prize for those watching to the end I’d win every time. There is WAY too much beautiful scenery to miss a second of it. The under water tuna shots were spectacular. I was just saying “get the GoPro under water” when Erica pranced by with the pole. The look on Erica’s face when Warren said “We got a good blow” said “KZfaq’s not gonna like THAT one!” But there it is. Hilarious. Love, love, love you guys’ channel (or “youse guys’s” for the gangsters amongst us).

Had to laugh when hearing about Erika's night watches! I use to take the night watches and inevitably, the same thing would happen... boats of ALL SIZES, seemingly toooo close, but thankfully, always went well! Stay safe you two!!! LOVE watching your progress and all the BEAUTIFUL places you have been blessed to visit and enjoy!!!

First comment on your excellent channel. I absolutely loved this episode, it so well captures everything about sailing those waters. Last year I took three days to sail from Anse Mayot on Taou Atoll to Papeete on Tahiti, encountering a similar combination of two days light wind and one day of superb sailing. I similarly had those huge swells coming through, on July 14, which led to massive surf on Teahupoo at Tahiti and Code Red2 surfing videos on KZfaq. Thanks for the underwater vids of the tunas, that's something I never saw. And it is wonderful that you chose Anse Mayot for a stop, it is indeed a magical place where I did multiple solo drift snorkels outside the reef on the equatorial current, simply the best. And finally I hope Valentine and Gaston were indeed there to cook a meal for you, they are amazing, but these days spend a lot of their time at Rotoava on nearby Fakarava Atoll, where they are building a new home. I envy your return trip to the Marquesas for another cycle through French Polynesia, I had only a three-month visa last year.

I know I'm a few months behind (catching up on your great channel!) but y'all need a big open face casting rod with a tuna popper for those situations. So much fun and they are made specifically for those situations. Love the fishing footage catching or not. I'm almost caught up to "real time". Been watching every episode from the 1st. Keep up the great work. Love the channel.

Awesome sauce as always. Why didn't Warren cast the squid lure towards the bait ball? The tunas would have crushed it. Will you or did you guys meet up with Delos? As if today 5/10/2023 they are on passage to Hiva Oa from Fatu Hiva. That would be an amazing meetup. Can't wait until next week for the diving/snorkeling footage. Cheers and fair winds

So nice to see the "We Sail out and flying" ! If you have any spoons in your Tackle Box or anything shiny even a Bear hook on your spinning real. Just Throw it in the fish Boyle. You should hook up on a fish in Seconds. Because the fish will hit any thing that makes a flash in the water. Ok Thank You again for a Great video this week! And until next time, Aloha from your friends on the Big Island of Hawaii!🌋🥂🍹 P.s. It's so nice to sit here on the lanai and have a cup of Kona coffee and watching your video's on a Wednesday morning! Do you record the boats that you cross routes with that are more than a mile away? 5 miles? 10 miles? At AIS limit? It would be a good statistic to have to compare to the number that are in close range.
