We sail South to Saint Lucia in the Windward Islands, catch up with friends and explore some new anchorages. Our weak little sea legs get a good workout when we climb (what felt like a vertical wall) to the top of a volcano 'The Petit Piton' in the southern part of the island. Hope you enjoy watching our struggle to the top where we get rewarded with the most spectacular views of Saint Lucia.
A couple from Australia and Norway who set sails from Norway on a Beneteau Oceanis 40 in late 2018 to explore the world by sailboat. (Yup, another sailing couple doing the standard route and documenting it on film.)

I commented on one of your earlier legs but it's still great to see the safety and simplicity of running with a double reefed main and full (yet easily furled) headsail. So many skippers get it wrong and hoist full main, expecting to reef down the head-sail (ie the opposite), and get caught out. You also get the full benefit of the (bigger) headsail, and a safer set-up for an uncontrolled gybe (assuming you forgot your preventer of course!). Cool videos guys - keep em comin.....

Thanks again for your kind words Kevin 🙏. Yeah we agree with that and prefer to set the 2nd reef in port and just work the headsails to get more comfort or speed especially between the islands. 2nd reef fits snug under our running backs so the rig stays solid that way. Thanks for the feedback 🤘

Just even this is valuable to understand. There is definitely a science and good experience / knack for knowing how to get the most out of the sails

Makes the passages go quick, to always be tweaking and adjusting the sails.

Love you two and your sailing adventure. Thank you for showing some actual sailing .... And of course the amazing hike to the top of that incredible peak. Kudos to you both for that. I used to sail more and never has a cane to walk until 2 years ago. So freeing to see your video. Thanks

well done, both of you....you two are living my dream of one day sailing the seas and visiting the islands. Love the boat, didn't think I was going to, but I do and the cockpit and salon/ kitchen areas are a superb size and layout. Great videos, keep it up, looking forward to the next one. Would love to know though if you both (or one of you) had any previous experience or did you literally learn the ropes when you bought the boat?

Thank you so much for the kind words Richard! I guess we feel the same about the boat. We weren’t quite sure to begin with, but now we are much more confident in her abilities as we have learned to get to know her better. The space and the light is definitely one of the good things with these boats. Yes we pretty much learned the ropes when we bought the boat. We lived in Norway for about a year and a half before we set off on the big trip. So started practising in the fjords there which was a good learning spot😊

Yeah it’s a little painful if there isn’t an option to simply anchor. Breaks the bank rather quick in the Caribbean.
