Wonderful ❤ and absolutely the right decision for a long blue water trip. Sure, you gave a little bit less space, but much more safety. We have the same "old lady" from 1987 no 72 and plan our long trip for early 2026. Best wishes to both of you and fair wind's. Björn and Matze from VOYAGER.

Dumb question. In all of your videos I’ve watch and even in light air you are sailing with a reef in the mainsail vs. a full mainsail. I can think of a number of reason why you would, but why not if on the right angle with the wind with fair skies and trying to make some distance?

what a perfect boat! WHY companies don’t build such kind boat anymore now? I really like central cockpit design and REALLY wanna get one myself!!!!

If you know the difference between a production and a bluewater boats, you'll sure see that difference while sailing. I have a 1971 33ft Hallberg-Rassy, and being smaller, but regardless of the blow, with a proper sail combination it never heals over 15 degrees. You'll see what I mean on your Najad. On the beautiful wood subject on the inside..., beside being a very significant esthetic attribute, it also shields you from forever off-gasiing epoxy that most of your boat is made of, and all of that toxic fumes evaporate on the outside. If you plan on going back to cruising, that wood will greatly contribute to much healthier living conditions aboard. Based on your previous boat setup, you look like someone who believes in a bluewater value of an inner stay...? Perhaps that and a Hydrovane could be major improvements to the Najad? Congratulations on your new boat! She is beautiful and she has a soul to discover, connect with, and enhance your journey together. I'm so happy for your success! Fair winds ⛵️

Another great video, but boy, this must be nearly 2 years old is it not? Isn't this the boat you sold and have since purchased a Najad boat? Be great if you'd give us an update on what's happening with you guys today.
@SailingBeaver3 ай бұрын
No Shrek, it is not real time obviously and we have made a realtime video to update about the Najad. A few more episodes of us crossing the pacific before we are back to realtime here in Norway. Editing and uploading vids ain’t our full time job right now mate so bear with us, or head over to our insti for updates. ⛵️🤙

@@SailingBeaver Very cool.. I must say that there is something very nice looking about this Benateau..Dare I say even better looking than the "blue water" Najad and Hallbergs. I don't sail (but want to) but must ask, is it really true that Najad and Hallbergs are noticeably better at sailing and feeling safe compared to the lighter "production" boats like your Oceanis 40?? If you were planning a circumnavigation for you and a spouse that would take 5 to 9 years, is it clearly preferable to go Hallberg/Najad over Jeanneau and Benateau (assume that money is not a big factor)?
@SailingBeaver3 ай бұрын
@Coleen_West we have always loved the shape and lines of this type of Beneteau and they sail really well! We would happily go around the world in a similar Bene or Jeaneau especially in the trade wind areas. The larger production boats are heavier and built stronger but all slam upwind. The Bluewater boats have a better calmer motion especially in cold climates or upwind passages.

No harness, of course. Who needs a harness when you've got two reefs, no jib and 6 meter waves? Why should we close the companion way? Why bother? Really. BTW 6 meter waves is big… but it all depends of the frequency … or wave length … 500 meters between two six metere waves we all can live with it, but 30 meters between the same wave height… Oh well.
@SailingBeaver3 ай бұрын
Sir, 3 reefs and a staysail! But yeah a harness wouldn’t have been a bad idea.
