I continue sailing an Alberg 30 solo through Micronesia. A whale follows me and the wind picks up as I arrive in Palau to meet Julie and explore the aquatic wonderland of Palau.

Better Days from www.bensound.com
Hi, I’m Markus and this is my Adventure Travel Vlog Series. I am travelling around the planet without ever using motorized transport. I started this journey in Toronto, Canada in July of 2015 and intend to circumnavigate back to where I started.
In this weekly youtube series (Every Sunday at 4PM EST) I will share my day to day experiences of what it’s like to travel around the earth under my own power (with help from some wind and currents too!). Loads of epic adventure videos I’m happy to share with you.
Become a patron and join the Routes of Change crew here for exclusive behind the scenes access: / routesofchange
SPOILER ALERT:!!
I started the journey in a canoe and have since trimaraned, hand cycled, pogosticked, tricycled, skiied, rafted, kayaked, SUPed, rowed, bicycled, sailed, walked, and danced half way around the planet.

I'm surprised how easy going you are despite sailing alone and have flesh eating bacteria etc. .. you even calmly said "I thought I'd lose a limb". Good reminder to stay calm:)

Perhaps the bacteria was taking over my brain and making me feel calm while it planned it's final death blow. :) Breathing is everything and it can perform miraculous healing.

I’m sorry to see you having to deal with your infection. What you have it seems is a staff infection. I have had three separate infections much like yours. Once I had to get on an I-v to get enough meds in my system to fight the disease. One thing I can tell you when you see the infection you have to get on it right away don’t wait. No matter what get on meds. If you feel a hot spot or you feel sore in one spot that is the infection. You must carry the meds on board and know how to dispense them !!! Good luck.

Must be a very interesting process to sail up to a dock without an engine?
@Routesofchange

Scary as! But if you do it right it's also very slow...wind direction is obviously super important and can make it extra hard! That said, I managed to do it with zero training....

I also have a small group of micro angel investors who are supporting me and my journey around the world without a motor. www.routesofchange.org Thanks Rowan!

Are you sure that the tail isn't vertically? I get the impression from 3:41 and 3:42 that it is. Also there is some lighter fin visible a bit before the tail which could be a pelvic or anal fin. Whales, like all sea mammals, have a horizontal tail and only flippers on the underside, shortly behind the head. Your "whale" honestly looks more like a shark to me. At his size maybe a white shark (a whale shark would have a typical spotted patern on it's upper side), they are one of the shark species that are known to partially surface sometimes. See commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:White_shark.jpg and compare that to your images and memory.
@Routesofchange
@Routesofchange 4 жыл бұрын
maybe. I didn't get the shark vibe from him. Thought it was a whale but perhaps you're right.
