Agree with many of the very positive comments about the quality of the production and filming. I am a sailor and a Southerly owner and was visiting many of the same places as you have over the last 2 summers. But you bring a beautiful fresh perspective with your aerial photography, underwater shots and natural but polished dialogue. You have a very distinctive niche and focus which is increasingly important when competing with the explosion of channels in the sailing segment. Keep up the excellent work.

Loved this. St Mawes is delightful. Anchored off in the 1980s and was astonished that the local Spar convenience store stocked magnums of Krug champagne alongside the common Blue Nun. An understated but posh anchorage. Encounters with cattle on narrow, Westcountry, cliff top coastal paths definitely require respect. Cattle can kick sideways as well as backwards. They sometimes respond to a robust prod with a stout stick and a confident bellow of "Gid on do!" Add expletives of choice for extra encouragement.

That's is some serious videography Dominic! You've really come along leaps and bounds. Coupled with great storytelling this is becoming a very good channel indeed even if the sailing is taking a bit of a backseat for a while. No harm as you are doing a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of your surroundings. Keep it up, please. BTW, Hank's expression while you were eating your scallops was priceless!

I'm going to level with you, Chris. The more I think about this vlog as being a 'sailing channel' the more of a misnomer I'm starting to think that is, ha ha. I mean yes we live on a sailing boat, yes we use that boat to go and explore lots of cool places and yes we have lots of sailing boat related issues which are very different from the challenges we faced in a bricks and mortar home, but it feels like the essence of the vlogs now (for us at least) more about the majesty of the natural world around us and how stunning what we have here really is. The pandemic and Brexit have also shaped how we're thinking about our content too and our feelings and priorities about life on a boat seem like they'd be well placed to try and make what we do, more valuable and useful to others, in many respects, rather than just a self indulgent joy ride that this all started out as. Think more a video almanac of our favourite spots, good fishing locations, the most sheltered rivers and estuaries for long stays, etc etc. How could a boat enthusiast survive and thrive in these isles in the event of a slightly worse pandemic, or financial collapse, or some other such 'black swan' event? Plus we want to still improve our filming and editing skills to really be the best we can to communicate all of that, and still show off this environmemt to the max 😁😁 Lots of exciting projects to come 🙏🏻⛵️😁😁😁

@@CadohaAdventures you have me hooked, we watch loads of boat channels, and yours is one of the best 'for me' with the pandemic and Brexit, and just fancy a change. We are looking at moving down to the South Coast. We need a bricks and mortar home, but would love to have a boat too. So seeing your adventures and the places you are enjoying on the South coast. Helps us to plan where we might like to move to Keep them coming, more maps would be helpful :)

@@CadohaAdventures have you seen the "Sailing Gently" channel ? not much sailing, but explores Mediterranean Marinas, up to part 4 now. for me... i'd love to see something similar for the hole of the UK. thinking you might sail around one day? (I'd love to one day) Have you seen the RYA Dinghy Trails ? now with Brexit and only 90 days in the EU, setting paths/trails, in UK waters for others to follow, would be cool :)

I also have a fear of deep water. Steming from my childhood .I was brought up by nuns after a shipwreck near a convent, (oh sorry that's tarzan's story and apes not nuns) anyway we were near the sea but could only go in up to our waists as it would not be possible for the apes to rescue us, nuns, nuns sorry. When your 4,5,6,7 years old that's about 2' of water. I'm 65 now still can't go in deeper then my waist. I sail and have fallen in and I panic like mad. Jaws didn't help when it came out in 75/76. No other fears so not too bad. Keep up the good work, all the best for the new year. Happy sailing.

@@CadohaAdventures Re R, I was just repeating what I was told by my Gran in the early 1950s, why we couldnt go cockling, however thinking about it and the sewerage treatment (lack of) and discharge back then, the warmer months would have been "dodgy." I think I am also correct that all shellfish sold in the summer months nowdays to tourists have to be "treated" by UV light (query that not sure what light but mussels def are.) Since records began in 1847, there have been no 'unprovoked' shark attacks in British coastal waters. The 'provoked' attacks were by hooked sharks being brought up onto a boat and handled incorrectly. In their thrashing, managed to sink into a leg or an arm of those onboard. I would say you are pretty safe.

From a spear is perspective, can I suggest you buy some proper freedive fins. This will make your life so much easier. Also, when in the actual act of submerging, slow everything down. This will enable you to appear less threatening to marine life and will greatly increase your bottom time.

Hey guys, brilliant latest video, thank you for making this awesome content 👌😊 I have a couple of unrelated questions, I hope you guys don't mind. We have just ordered the diesel dipper for our boat (having learnt about it from you some time ago) and I was wondering if you could help us out with some further advice. Would you please list what products you use with it and how frequently (Marine 16 bug treatment etc)? Also, do you guys use normal diesel or red diesel please? We've been using normal diesel as a lot of boat friends ended up with diesel bug when using red diesel. However, in your opinion, is it OK to use red diesel if one is using the diesel dipper? What have you guys been using? Thank you again for your content and thank you for taking the time to read this message. Have a lovely week!
@CadohaAdventures
@CadohaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hello there. We used the diesel bug treatment at the start and after that we used marine-16 fuel set compete (Looks like tea). We run the dipper whenever the boat is in motion, always when the engine is running, although sometimes we turn it off when it’s a calm, beautiful sail, as the noise is sometimes intrusive, but if it’s a bit of a bouncy sail then we certainly have it running as that’s when the most contaminants seem to be pulled out through it. If your tanks are bad then I’d empty the super very regularly at the start of your usage with it, and gradually your fuel samples will get clearer and clearer (if our experience is anything to go by). We also use red diesel as it’s easier to get in all the places we go to. We filter it on the way into the tanks, add the fuel set compete and then the dipper takes care of the rest. I am also paranoid about the fuel system now too after our first seasons experience so I change my filters more often than annually, I changed mine three times last year, which may sound over kill, but when they’re only £6 each, it seems like a small price to pay for peace of mind. Thankfully we’ve never had a problem since 🙏🙏⛵️☺️☺️☺️

You have very good reason to be a bit wary of those cows, especially with a dog...They kill more people than any other animal in the uk.... Certainly more dangerous then sharks

Nice video as usual! Looks like you were diving with the snorkel in your mouth. If so try and lose that habit, if you do black out it guarantees water will go into your lungs.
@CadohaAdventures

Never though of that. I wasn’t doing anything to lead me to black out, I don’t think? Was very shallow and I never stayed under for more than a few seconds in most cases, just long enough to pick something up. I am, however, going on a free diving course next month because now I’m really interested in learning more about being a ‘Waterman’ and doing so safely. Thanks for the heads up 🙏😁🦞

@@CadohaAdventures we all have our own risk levels. Most of the spearfishemen in the UK dive solo, I am one of them. It's a big no no in the freediving world but hey whatcha gonna do.💁‍♂️ But there are some basics that are important to always follow and then there are risks to be aware of and then decide your own risk exposure.

@@CadohaAdventures Having had terriers we were quite tempted by the Vizsla. Terriers are a very handy size. Ours’ nautical exploits were limited to the Isle of Wight ferry although we were very proud of our last one when we flew with him on a very noisy helicopter to Tresco.

Around the British coastline, you'll need to worry more about poo and pollution than sharks with the abhorrent levels of discharge that water companies are dumping into rivers!

Although I don’t doubt that you’re right, I can’t help but feel a large Porbeagle or Mako shark will freak me out more than someone’s floaters 🤣 Thankfully the water all looked lovely where we were, but certainly good to think about the water quality, especially if we’re eating shell fish! 😳😳🥺

You have a Mercury outboard for your dinghy in the early part of the film and then an electric outboard later on. What's up with that? Too much money coming in from viewers? LOL!
@CadohaAdventures
@CadohaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
We also have a Tohatsu 20hp too, just a couple of episodes ago 😂 But the Tohatsu broke down, the Mercury was a quick second hand purchase for £200 as a back up and the electric outboard was lent to us by a very kind soul to see how we got in with an electric outboard. 😁⛵️

I'm liking this "live off the land" quest also. I'm thinking this plandemic is causing more folks to either choose to live on a boat or to do so earlier than planned. So for viewers it's like a buyer's market. We are fortunate to have Cadoha as a choice! I noticed your radar reflector in the rigging is collapsed. It will work much better unfolded and locked together. ;)
