This is the perfect way to demo an ink; all ink demos should use a wide range of nib widths. Another test I like to do with wimpy inks is to write the digits 1,2,3,4, then go over 2,3,4, then go over 3,4, then go over 4. This is also a good test for the paper.

This was such a fun video! I love experimenting with ink. And I especially love the new multi-shading inks like this one. My favorite so far is Troublemaker’s Milky Ocean. I wrote and wrote with it in my journal.

Yep, the wider the better. I have a Lamy 1.9 mm stub that would be interesting to try, but one of the super wide Pilot Parallels would probably be a nicer experiment.

this ink has been very dry w/ my pens. I feel it writes faint and can be hard to see/read but dries to a much better/prettier color. But the hesitation and skips bother me; I may try this in my broad gushing pens like my Pelikans.

Your timing could be better!: bought bottle Sailor Manyo Nekoyanagi (because I couldn’t find samples anywhere) - was really looking for Troublemaker Milky Ocean, which seems to be out of stock, and Nekoyanagi was the closest I could find - like you, have come to the conclusion these inks look fine as a swab but are just too watery in real life; thanks for the vid tho :)

Hi Kathy, thanks for your reviews on the Sailor Manyo Haha and Nekoyanagi! I’m having trouble deciding which color ink to buy because they’re both so pretty! Is there one you prefer or would recommend over the other?
