We upgrade the OEM Trailer King RST tires to the Sailun S637 for our 35 foot fifth wheel RV. The Sailun is much more tire in cost (and weight), but it's a 14 ply rated G tire compared to a TK RST 10 ply rated E tire.
Thanks for watching!

I found these a couple years ago after spending a fortune and lots of flat tires and blowouts with Tire King tires on my equipment trailers. Life changing to say the least!!! And better fuel mileage

We just got back from Florida, put 2100 miles on them. So far they are absolutely the best trailer tire I've ever owned. The 14 ply rating and just the commercial look and feel to the tires give me tons of confidence. Thanks for watching!

I got a set of these S637 in April of 2018. I put some 30,000 miles on them. They are little hard to keep balanced so I got a set of centromatic wheel balancers. What a difference that made. Tires are now 3 years old and still looking good. Should I replace them because of the age or just roll with it. Whats 600 dollars to maybe thousands if they blow out. Just ordered new ones from Simple tire.

David, at 3 years old, your S637 tires should be good to go. I'm thinking 5 to 6 years on mine should be easy as I will not put the 30K miles on them in that time frame. We suffered severe damage on our 2009 fiver when a tire blew out at 45 MPH and the entire tread came apart to split the subfloor and water lines. These S637 tires should not separate like a cheap tire does. Thanks and good luck in your travels!

I drive a class C and blow all steel tires after 7 years, which takes out cabinets and even bent a slide out arm once, when the tread comes apart. Don't let these get old. They will destoy your coach. Also monitor pressures closely sincd my Duravis steel tires go from 80psi cold to 96psi after warming up 30+ miles. The Support I could talk to at America's Tires nor Goodyear was aware that much rise would happen.

You cant compare a 10 ply to a 14 ply in anyway shape or form. Ive run the trailer kings in all steel 14ply and they did amazing. I run nothing but Hercules H901's 14 ply now.

How about an apples to apples comparison: 14 ply to 14 ply
@pmtips4482
@pmtips4482 3 жыл бұрын
It was not that, but rather a look at a possible upgrade comparison to what the RV manufacturers are typically putting on $40K to $70K RVs. These trailers at these prices warrant a much better tire than what typically gets slapped on them. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My 2016 Montana dual axle Fith wheel came with Goodyear RST 14 ply load range “G” tires. Just had one explode taking out a rim, lower valance and fender flair. That’s just what I can see. I have been looking at the Sailun’s as a replacement. Nice to hear some one who has them give a review.

Trailer king rst is not available in a 16 ply, 12ply is as high as they go, the Sailun- 16 ply, way stronger. too many overloaded factory available trailer tires- going to a higher capacity will pretty much eliminate blow outs if the pressure is kept correctly.

Exactly, I wish a manufacturer would step up and make a really good commercial tire in 15 inch. Thanks for watching!

The dual rating for tires only applies for "dually" configuration, meaning two tires at the one end of an axle. Not the case here.

You can run these tires at 80 lbs and be problem free. You do not have to run them at 110.

Thank you for commenting! I've settled on 85 psi and after only 3,000 miles the wear pattern, or lack of one, seems to be pretty good on my fiver.

Won't low tires get excess heat to build up and age the rubber prematurely as well as wear the tread oddly? What benefit is there for not following the manufacturer's recommendation?

I believe the Sailuns are better but the Trailer King load range G is also all steel.

Those G rated Trailer Kings look good. I'm really liking the Sailuns so far (1,200 miles). I had an E rated tire, made in China, blow apart and the tread came apart at 45 mph, slapped the bottom of the fiver floor. It busted the subfloor 3/4 inch ply wood, split the water supply line that was laying on top the floor under a cabinet, and destroyed the fender skirt and metal trailer skirting. Damage was unreal but I repaired it myself. The guy at the Keystone dealer told me he saw the damage where a tire came clear through the floor and destroy a cabinet, and it was on a 100K plus Mountain Aire fifth wheel. Thanks for watching!

Your rims/wheels are not rated heavy enough for that tire.

My wheels are stamped 110 max psi, is that what you are referring to?

@@pmtips4482 Load index in LBS. is what you need to look at. Most aluminium rims ( not all ) are not heavy enough.

@@gregk.6723 In my research I've found that the limitations of a rim as far as the psi goes is because of valve stem. Anything of 100 psi requires a clamp on metal stem. Obviously you still shouldn't load the rim over what the manufacturer calls for as far as weight goes. But as long as you replace the stem I don't see why you shouldn't be able to run higher ply tires with a higher psi. As long as you're not putting more weight on the wheels then the rim is rated for.

@@gregk.6723 I've been running my aluminum wheels stamped 110 psi at 110 psi for 8 years now. I check psi and adjust before every pull and I haven't had any problem running at 110 psi

@@bubbapond1616 Then you are running a good ( 110 psi ) rim at what it is intended for. For that psi. and lbs. i think a steel rim is much better/safer. Just me 2 cents.
