Most everyone who has visited Glacier National Park has seen Wild Goose Island on Saint Mary Lake from the Going-To-The-Sun Road. It has even been featured in the Robin Williams film "What Dreams May Come". We launched our kayaks from the Rising Sun boat launch and paddled to Wild Goose Island (which is actually two small islands). From there we floated west on Saint Mary Lake to the other side of Sun Point and had lunch with great views of the Peaks of Logan Pass. We then made our way across the lake to the south shore of Saint Mary Lake. We visited the famous "Silver Dollar Beach" on the south shore before returning to Rising Sun. Our voyage was between 8 and 9 miles in the kayaks. As luck had it, the Going-To-The-Sun Road opened that morning (6/22/2024) so we drove it back to the West Side of the Park.
