The Ai the driving, NPC's and bullet spongy ness everything is strikingly similar to just cause 3

personally i love the weapon wheel in saints row 2, and the best part about is was on pc (not sure if it's pc specific), you can either open up the weapon wheel by pressing q or just instantly switch to a weapon by scrolling your mouse wheel also not a fan of the outline-ish weapon icons, i prefer the weapon icons to be the actual models themselves also the hitmarkers are too intrusive (maybe just me) lastly the weapon animations are too tactical for me, in sr2 the boss would only use a tactical animation when fine aiming but not when normal aiming but anyways the game looks good, seems like we actually have more than 2 weapons for each category now and the map is amazing (so far) also edit: the bullet spongey enemies i think are the sort of 'specialist" classes, police with more hp have shields on them and the panteros bullet sponge was quite beefy looking so it made sense why he was spongey, normal enemies look like they go down faster

Every weapon having a grip reminds me of sr3. My guess is that they choose this to reuse animations

I just hope that when it comes to driving, we have actual throttle control/ sensitivity when it comes to controllers. It would be nice to be able to drive without being full throttle at all times.

Great Video. They have mentioned that you will be able to change a lot of accessibility settings. Let's hope it works individually for all health-bar types. I don't think the enemies are bullet sponges now that I re-watched some of the videos, specially the one released today. They just have different enemy types like in the old games. We'll likely be able to set difficulty too I believe. The enemy AI has always been this bad, but I'd prefer an improvement to higher standards too. I agree with everything else mentioned here. I'm looking forward to playing this in February!

I agree with all the cons and neutrals, but all the pros should be in the cons except for the graphics. They're decent for the most part, except standout examples like the trees and destruction and particle effects.

The foregrip on every rifle thing is definitely something i never liked in SR3, it looks like they're doing the same with this, but hopefully there are guns without foregrips available- or let players customize the guns so we can put whatever attachments we want on them.

i really hope that they add all those details that made SR2 special, like the pedetrians actually doing stuff not just walking by, and add some interesnting places, abandon buldings that we can explore etc. thats my main problem from SR3, all outside the campaing feel lifeless

The health bar only looks weird when you watch the game. But when you'll actually play the game they will be useful. (of course the option to disable them would be better for everyone) Chase cam is too far away: I agree. The camera is far away to make it easier to see other vehicles and ram into them. But being able to switch between different camera would definitely be better.

Seems like only the mac smg is a peashooter and not every enemies are bullet sponges. When the boss use other weapons, they go down really fast.

I'm so glad this game lets you carry a full set of weapons. The last open world crime game I played that I wasn't replaying was Mafia III which limited players to one long arm and one sidearm at a time. That was not fun for me. Based on my own experience I prefer that open world games with gun based combat allow you to carry at least three guns at a time.

Something about the lighting makes the game hard to look at for me, the glare and reflections off the buildings don't vibe well with my brain. Would be cool if we had a sunglasses mode to remove a lot of the reflections and tone down the glare.

the off-road actually looks really good for a action game, honestly looks better than most racing games

One thing I noticed when shooting the police is that they showed no signs of pain at all, No verbal or physical signs like a Yelp of pain or falling over and covering the bullet wound, etc, like police do when you shoot them in games such as GTA IV to GTA V.

So far all I see is cons: too much sci-fi, hipster clothing like skinny jeans, none likeable characters especially the wannabe boss and the steve urkle looking character

I actually really like the more distant chase cam. I play on pc with a fairly high fov, so it allows me to see a lot more of my surroundings. I agree with your other points though.

Yeah, right now my biggest gripes are the enemy sponginess? (I don'tt know if that's a word) and the chase cam. I hate that cam distance a lot. Other than the characters, and potential narrative (the acting IS horrendous), I do think that this will be a fun game. I still can't see any SR2 in it, but...

thank god you mentioned the weird camera angle during chase scenes. that and the health bar above vehicles are the biggest concerns for me right now, but i still need to see more to fully form an opinion. loved the video though 💜

I really hope it’s good! SR2 was one of my favorite games but after that it went down hill.

True about all you say in the video. But remember this is a pre-alpha the creators still in process in this game. One of my favorite parts of this game is the origins of most the characters like Kevin that he was from the gang of the idols and Neenah from the panteros and they leave to going the Saints. Let wish luck to the creators and they can fix all the cons that you say in the video so this game can be the best game of all Saints row.

Tbh i dont like the more aggresive police since sr has always had the most realistic pursuits in any game.

The car side swiping mechanic reminded me of the mad max game.

Gameplay looks pretty solid but the voice acting from the main characters that I heard make me wanna uno reverse card myself

At the very least the gameplay of the game already feels pretty promising, with their sorta grounded approach to the game. Still has some usual things that I noticed too. It's a long list, but this is also including the Twitter vids too. Bullet spongey characters look prominent there, but seems inconsistent. Like Los Panteros gang members seem to take a lot of SMG shots die to 1.5 mag dump, while the cops died to about 1/4 of a mag, even one of the cops with armor dies fairly quick. Might be a weapon difference and upgrade issue, since the MP7 is decked out while the Mac-10 is vanilla and does little damage on a Panteros gang member. Maybe even enemy types cuz in the Idol Threat clip the one guy before the three Idol gangs sliding in unison seems to take 6 shots from the burst rifle before dying, while those three die in one shot(granted they're headshot damage but they died quickly from there). At least even despite the bullet-sponge enemies, gunplay does look and feel like it'll play really well. A similar issue of the player seemingly being too tanky because in a bar brawl with Idols where your punches seem to insta-kill them for some reason, you take tickle damage instead(might be a difficulty thing in easy, is my best guess). AI is weird in that gun enemies are a bit of a slow shot, and melee enemies outside of in the bar fight literally do nothing(not a single gameplay vid where they run in and slap you with a bat, which is worrying). Difficulty or not, it would really hamper the experience either way if they're that dumb, so if they do fix that, that'd be great. Wingsuits I never really made too much use in whichever games outside of some War Thunder as a similar idea(I'd imagine it playing like GooH). At least it doesn't look like SR4 levels of making cars useless, since some gameplay sees you needing to use it on top of the roof, on the roof of the car while moving, and maybe from the roof of the skies. Looks pretty fun at the very least. Does look like we got some more weapon variety per category(four different SMGs for example; Mac-10, Micro Uzi I think, the MP7, and the D4TH Blossom). The other clips show some flintlocks, double-barrel sawn-offs, a bolt-action rifle that has a foregrip for some reason, and some others, but am too lazy to list em in categories, looks like plenty of different weapons to play with at the very least. Also a slight pet peeve, but one of the SMGs feel a bit too slow in firerate(the Micro Uzi in the car-chase gameplay is hard to see); makes some sense for the MP7 since it's the middle-ground SMG, but the Mac-10 being the bullet hose, feels a bit jarring to see it shoot that slowly. Another thing I noticed in some clips are weapon challenges when the playa was switching through the weapon wheel. Something about doing those challenges in order to get special properties(such as the shotgun getting flechette rounds after 10 double kills). A bit of a random inclusion imo Car gameplay I think is a step-up and also a step-down. Always kind of miss the "looseness" of driving in SR2, made almost every crash and drifting feel fantastic to pull off without feeling too stiff, something that was still good in SR3 but felt stiff. It's weird here, like its driving looks really good now with a more arcadey kind of feel and impact when being chased, but weirdly has less impact when you're the one driving and ramming things. Context-sensitive keys and highlights on objects and sometimes characters. While I think it'd somewhat make sense for takedowns even though I'd prefer context-keys instead of highlights, it seems like a weird thing to have highlighted on objects with those two in one. Also that they look to be the key to snap shot at explosives, instead of picking up improvised weapons as they seem to look like red barrel kind of items, and in one of their 12-days-of-Saintsmas showcase on Twitter shows the highlighted vending machines used as a red barrel kind of thing. Also a thing seen in one of the Twitter vids where it's used to snap shot at a flying enemy from one of the skills launching them upwards. Accessibility thing I'd imagine. Customization returning with layered clothing(even if the animated materials look a bit on the crazy side and sometimes eye-sore in some, but hey I won't complain if it means certain sections can be adjusted to be that animated/pulsing material instead of being on the entire jacket for one example). Looks really good so far, even if it means some things we had to look for were from leaks. Weapon customization with skins and vehicles are pretty cool too, with some being pretty out there which I won't complain too much about lol At the very least the one takeaway that I can sleep well at night with the game is this; the revolver finally coming back...

I was confused about all the people complaining the new game being woke. Saints row was always pretty woke for it’s time if you replay it.

One thing that made a big difference in this game till now is outside of it: The marketing. It was very bad since the first video came out.But as i read the Vollition explanations about the game, it looks more of a Sr2 and SR3 now. One thing they promissed is the humor, i really hope so! But i don't think the NPC'S gonna be as funny as SR2, but i would like to be very wrong about it. If you look closer in the city scene where the guy is playing guitar, you'll see a bus from SR2. I know it's nothing, but gives me the ideia the a lot of older stuff will be back. I hope this game could make us forget about SR2 for now.

The health bars over enemies and cars need to go or at least have an option to turn them off. Hopefully the enemies aren’t bullet sponges like we saw in the combat. The fleur de lis definitely should be in the corner of the screen and not the middle. Yeah the AI needs work lol, but I’m sure it’ll be fine in a newer build of the game. There will probably be an option to disable the camera shake from hitting another car

Let's be honest... Saints Row was NEVER that smooth. It's always had weird bugs, glitches or questionable design choices. Also the car mechanics were never the best imo. This game seems like a major step up. It baffles me how people are calling this a downgrade.

Here a my pros and cons of the game Cons: Health bars need to go, I get the reason for them but I don't think they'd be necesarry if they would decrease the health of the enemies. The characters really need to be tweaked, we've only seen early gameplay so we don't know if the characters get glow ups or not but from what we've seen the characters are all hipster 20 year olds and they all kind of seem like knockoff watch dogs 2 characters which just doesn't work for this game. The last BIG problem I have with the game is the physics and this kinda goes with both cars and people. I've always felt like saints row would be 10x more fun if they would add some better physics to characters, example, gta 4's physics, people had field days with those physics and I can see why, they're really realistic and fun to look at that honestly I wish for once saints row would try it. Onto the car physics I feel that they're a bit too stiff, the driving in saints row has always been like that and I honestly feel like it's saints row's weakest point, driving was too easy and it never felt like you were ever going fast. Pros: The graphics are amazing, I agree that youtube probably does not do the game justice but looking at the clothes you can see the folds and the fabric, honestly it looks amazing. The facial expressions (from what I've seem) also seem really good, very human and not robotic like other games. The next pro is the world, its amazing, it reminds me of what gta 5 did with adding a city, a desert, and mountians into the game to make it feel bigger than it is. Sadly that's the only pros I could come up with but I feel like if they can fix the health bars, cringy writing, and health of the enemies I guarantee this game can be a blast to play at the least, even if the story isn't remembered. Throw in at least one memerable character like gat and you got yourself an even better game that'll be remembered. I really hope that these few months give them time to fix some problems and maybe even allow some real saints row players/content creators to test it, giving feedback where it's necessary. That's the only way they can really comeback from this lashback.

At first I didn’t get why everyone was complaining about the health bars but after repeatedly seeing them, yeah it does get a little annoying to see them all the time. Hopefully there is an option to turn them off

My biggest problem is definitely the far away camera when driving. 1:00 look just how stupid that looks, the camera makes it appear like you're remote-controlling a tiny toy car.

I noticed something... 1:14 the buff dude takes a lot of damage 1:19 the "normal" dude doesnt. I assume there's different damage levels for differently shaped enemies.
