That said - the ref did, I think, an excellent job refereeing a tough fight!

Also, 16:59... reversal of shoulders from garozzo? Are we not doing this anymore?
@NathanMORRISDAVIES6 жыл бұрын
no, he had the parry so it should be ok

They changed back the shoulder rule, cuz they say you should be allowed to use it as a dodge as long as you don't expose the back of your head

I mean what upsets me more than anything else about garozzo's attack is not that his blade isn't moving towards the target... that's not a massive issue, and I'm fine with this continuing to be a thing. No, the biggest issue is that his "progressive" footwork is not progressive. He keeps on pausing and effectively stopping. No one else is doing progressive attacks with this much of a break in their forward momentum, so why this is being accepted as an attack is beyond my comprehension.

I think that he checks his steps to be cautious and times it so well that it looks like he is in prep but has already started moving before the opponent goes. However in this video, towards the end Saito has picked up on Garozzo's style. He steps forward and checks and he brings his sword back. Soon as these two things happen Saito goes, Garozzo goes and the ref is spot on in the decision. Garrozo's progressive attack is superb but is the most risky out of everyone's because he pauses so much. He will have to change his style if other competitors pick up on what he is doing. Still a great match! Just wish I could watch Saito vs Kruse.

I slow motioned this and watched it carefully. Garazzo keep stepping forward, then pauses, therefore giving away his right away. What is garazzo complaining about???

4:58, 13:40вторая защита-ответ, но перед ответом взятие оружия на себя(погрешность), укол на подготовку, с немедленной четвертой защитой.

The type of attack garozzo does has really started to ruin foil... we were going well for a while with the bias toward the attacker... but to almost completely eliminate attack in prep or the ability to draw an attack is really detrimental to the sport.

Who decides this type of judging? Is it a gradual sort of agreement or does it come from on high- FIE?

foil has turned in a joke and looks so dum. They need to call attacks into preparation. If you are coming forward and your weapon is not threading the target, but up in the air or somewhere else that is preparation. The fact that they even you the world intent to explain a fencing action makes no sense. Some ref told me, " It is all about intent to attack". Just think about it. one person attacks and hit first, and the other person intends to his and hit second.

Counterpoint, one person tries to hit with an inadequate attempt to stop themselves from getting hit in return. If you don't like right-of-way, watch epee. Something I would highly recommend anyway.

U know absolutely nothing about foil, it was obviously a mistimed attack in prep so it was viewed as a counter attack
