I received this chainsaw for Mother's Day! Best gift ever! I am 68 and I have a bad back. I wear my back brace and I'm good to go. Just cutting down very small tress. Thank you for this info, I appreciate it! :)

Hey! Great review of this class of electric chain saw, thank you! I have been full-time traveling in a camper van for one year now as a retired guy. I travel the west coast to keep visiting my kids in So.Cal and Oregon. I’ve been in 8 other states too this year, and during that time have not had one single fire because of the outrageous cost of firewood and my lack of experience with a good knife. Your reviews helped me remedy the no good knife problem, and I’ve had my eye on these little guys for more than one year now, but never made the jump to actually buy one. Another greatly relevant review and you have helped me decide this time to leap with my eyes wide open! Thanks again as always for your experience and thoroughness! :)

Well reviewed Mark. I dont find I have much use for a power saw in warm weather. Camp fires are small, usually just for cooking on, and maybe a bit of bush TV before bed. 4", maybe 5" round tops. But the cooler it gets, and the more the fire is also tasked for warmth and comfort, the larger the wood gets, and the larger the tools get. Large bush knife becomes hatchet, hatchet becomes small forrest axe, small forest axe becomes 3/4 or full size woods axe. Folding pocket saw becomes larger folding saw, larger folder becomes 21" take down buck saw, 21" take down becomes 36" solid frame buck saw. But it also matters how I'm travelling too. Hiking/backpacking=compact tools. Car camping, canoe tripping, snowshoeing pulling a pulk, or snowmobiling, bigger or heavier tools become less of an issue. Two areas where i do see these small chainsaws to be advantageous are 1) when you have a specific purpose for the trip and getting your camp wood done quickly frees up limited time. 2) Places where boat motors, generators, chainsaws, etc are prohibited, or unwelcome. Im not advocating breaking the law, just that there are circumstances where a quieter tool may not attract unwanted attention.

I've been using my Saker Mini Chainsaw a fair amount since they sent it to me back in the summer. Mine is the 4" version but my experience with it has been very positive.Like you I was skeptical at how well it would work but man was I ever surprised. I've used mine at the beach and around the yard at home, car camping and I've even backpacked mine into the woods. This tool would also be great for people with 4 wheelers and side by sides for trail maintenance. Also great in a canoe if you need to remove limbs reaching out over a river. I have had no issues with mine whatsoever. Thank you for sharing your experience with The Saker Mini Chainsaw Mark! I'm glad you liked it

I use a gas chain saw to cut up wood into big pieces, then bring them home and cut them up to size for the fire pit with the mini chain saw (the biggest pieces after splitting). The mini chain saw is so convenient and can process an amazing amount of wood in a short period of time. You just have to remember to not push them too hard. I took the top hinged cover of my mini chain saw off, because it interfered with cutting bigger pieces while rolling them as I was cutting them (pieces that were larger in diameter than the length of the saw). Thanks for the review, always insightful, intelligent, and thorough!

Greetings to you from another "Mark". I purchased the 4" version and I too noticed that when checking the battery out of the box that all 3 green lights were lit. However when using it, it stopped several times. I was using it for some pretty thick branches and thought that maybe it overheated....and maybe it did. But when I checked the battery, it was down to one green light. I'm glad I listened to your video. There are many similar videos for this mini chainsaw, but I find that yours was much more descriptive and covered everything more thoroughly than the others. I was also relieved to hear that you too had the same problem with the chainsaw dying so quickly the first time and that once you did a full charge, it lasted much longer. This is the first time I have used it and the battery is charging up at this time so I am optimisitic that I will have the same result that you had. Thank you again for your review of the mini electric chain saw.

I've seen other KZfaqrs use an electric chain saw, and they usually have good success in using one. I've used electric hedge trimmers, so I don't see too much difference in using an electric saw. 🤙🇨🇦🇺🇸🤙

Thanks Mark for another relevant review. I see a lot of use for a small saw like this. Climbing a ladder to cut low hanging dead limbs around the property would be easier than using a bow saw or folding saw. Don't think I would take it backpacking.

I read on the temu website, that with lithium batteries the optimum battery life is to fully charge the battery before using it for the first time. Then to use the battery for about 20% after recharging the batteries, IF you are planning to store the batteries for a longer time. This way the lithium batteries will be less likely to build up a memory and be functional for more years... And companies are not allowed to ship batteries fully loaded because of explosion factors (like movements, weather conditions, impact scenarios, handleling the packages in transport, etc.) So most "lithium" battery operated merchandise will come with partially loaded batteries to prolong battery life.

Lithium battery don't have a memory, but instead they have a limited number of charges. From factory they normally shipped with 40% charge and recommenced to store them with 40-50% charge for longer "shelf" life. They also may self discharge about 5-10% per month when not used.

I occasionally do some trail maintenance with a silky saw. This would be handy for larger stuff, like when a tree blows down in the middle of the trail. (And how do they know where the trail is in order to fall there? I suspect it is the same way that thorny berry bushes _always_ grow TOWARD the trail rather than away from it. Plants are smarter than we think!)

Thanks for another great overview and demonstration, Mark. It would be nice if the company offered an additional (optional) compact case to carry the saw into the woods without all the accessories, perhaps with space for the exra battery.

Interesting idea having handy small electric saw to take camping. Adding one is a smart idea but it cannot replace traditional saws so you still need both. It is much faster and quieter to use but needs a self-oiling chain. Replacing batteries cost as much as the saw sometimes. Electric tools and water cause problems. Taking all the home amenities camping, hiking and canoeing can go too far. If you have cellphone service, are you really in the wilderness or still in your backyard?😅🤣👍

Excellent review! I just subscribed after watching your reviews on some Fire Maple products and looked through your other videos (yes, I've been lurking...) I think that there is a niche for these little electric saws (I used to tent camp, now I have a little teardrop...that comfort thing is high on my priority list!). This little gem (the saw) is a brilliant addition to the tool set. I have solar on my setup and can easily recharge the batteries (it may take a bit longer than charging off a wall plug, but the solar does an excellent job) It is much easier to tackle the firewood situation (IMO) and it has a bit of a cool factor to it. Thank you again for a very thorough review!!

Honestly can't see a reason to take an electric chainsaw in the bush over my Silky Bigboy 2000 or Gomboy. I get almost the same performance for a heck of a lot less weight and bulk, and don't have to rely on batteries either. Plus the Bigboy can handle larger diameters. Also is the chain guard near your hand plastic or metal? As it looks like thin plastic, which would not be good if you ever broke the chain, or it came off.

First thing, the channel Project Farm did some fantastic, in depth tests on these, and the bigger ones. Covered pretty much all the bases, though not with this brand. So I believe that cover on the blade is more of a safety thing to prevent potential kick back, and maybe to stop people from doing the more advanced cutting from underneath, using the top of the bar. I think their main market is pruning in the yard. No need to have a real chain saw sitting in the garage for a couple branches a year, sort of thing. But I have to admit, I’ve thought about taking one with me to take some of the work load off me. It’s just the batteries really don’t last long, and charging one with a panel, if it’s sunny, takes a pretty long time. So I dunno. Is it worth the effort and expense for just a couple logs?

Hi Jim. Yes, the main use for this saw would be around the home/cottage. I wanted to give it a bit different spin but it is a narrow niche. Not for most people. I still prefer my Silky saws. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark, nice one out of left field mate, makes a shipload of sense for those scenarios you mentioned. Does need a chain/bar sheath I reckon and could do with appropriately sized, metal, (I think they're called dog spikes or teeth) ? Even just a metal version/plate of what's already there would be more worthy IMO. Apologies if I missed it, ..... and no big deal, but will it stand up on the battery ? i.e. lay down in the dirt is the enemy ... if avoidable, so much the better, ........ on second thoughts, ...... it is a big deal for a chainsaw, lol. I was think'n, particularly for those with strength/mobility issues, a two handed operation would be a bonus, in terms of spreading the effort, stability and indeed easier withdrawal/re-engagement in case of stoppage ........perhaps an add on/removable top handle. Yeah the gloves are a bit silly, particularly since they're not gonna cater for all sizes; drop those and whack in a tooth file and/or more lubricant I'd say. Ultimately, anything that keeps more folks actively getting out there, and/or easing the burden around the house; ..... I'm all for it !!!!!!!!!! Cheers Duke..
