Hey Captain out on the west coast we rig 5/0 mustard siwash bent rigged with swevals kind of like trolling a gaff. The old west coast trollers made a living on plugs and big spoons. My Skipper fished his whole life and had a few top skippers to learn from. I only did it a couple of years. You have to handling the fish when it gets 7 phantoms from the vessel Beleave me I like rods and reels. Keeps the coho from bitting for the modern sport fishers Great video very informative.

( mono,LC,copper,on riggers how far back) Example question 2color plug, 3color spoon, 4color rapala pattern. Will the different presentation change the depth performance. So do the j-plugs run fine at those upper speeds as well? Say like 2.0-2.5 mph? I am just starting out and don’t run meat rigs but am using flasher/flies and spoons and would like to have the extra presentation of plugs. Which would be best?
@tangledtacklefishing

Good question. For faster speeds we prefer the ace high style plugs. The J-plugs can tolerate moderate higher speeds but the ace high plugs perform better in my humble opinion.

Eric Sundberg great timing! I fished out of white lake today, picking up only two trout; one of which was pretty nice. I marked quite a few fish in the 120-140 area but they weren’t interested. I Fished everything from meat rigs to spoons. My fish (caught and missed) predominantly were in the 130-140 area almost straight out and a little north. I’d actually recommend trying south. One fish on a Moonshine RV JJ Mac Muffin spoon and another on a DW 8” green sparkler with Pickled Sunshine meat rig. We also had a break off on a 300’ copper with a flasher/fly that I don’t recall at the moment. Try the 120-140’ depth, 80-100 down south of the channel. - Jim
