I had the same thing happen! I went to my husband’s friend’s wife’s salon to get the hot pink out of my hair. My hair was almost down to my booty at that time. She did a color remover, no bleach (not that I’m aware of), and sent me home in a hair mask. I get home, flip my head over into the bathtub, and use the detachable shower head to wash it all out. I started pulling clumps and clumps of hair out. I still have the pic of all my hair in the corner of the bathtub somewhere. I broke down crying on the bathroom floor and was devastated! To make matters worse, very shortly after that whole debacle, I developed scalp psoriasis. 😤 So yeah, had to cut my booty length hair up to my shoulders. It’s been a few years and my hair is finally back to its original state. I found an amazing hairstylist who takes great care of my hair and I’ve been going to her ever since that whole thing happened. She helped me get my hair back to life. I get my roots bleached every 6-8 weeks and my hair has literally never been healthier! I feel for that woman and know the devastation she endured. ❤

As far as the low heat curler goes, I have almost the exact thing, only you don't use any heat, there's a foam core instead with a satin covering. You wrap your hair & wait a few hours or overnight for it to dry. When you take it out you have beachy waves (or curls depending on how many sections you use) it works great. Super easy to do & no heat damage

Have you ever made a video on damaging hairstyles? I work in construction and wear a hardhat all day. So I wear my hair in french braids to protect it from the dust and to keep it out of my face. It also helps keep my hair cleaner to I don’t have to wash it as much. But I’ve heard you shouldn’t wear the same hairstyle everyday and that braiding hair everyday is going to cause a lot of unwanted breakage. I have noticed some breakage but I don’t know if it’s from when I had very blonde hair last year (my stylist and I have worked to get to a balayage that I can grow out easily so I don’t have to color my hair anymore so it’s been over 6 months since it’s been bleached)
@emfgdr3150

What? Braiding is a very protective hairstyle. Indian women have been braiding their hair every day for centuries, it actually protects against breakage. It just shouldn’t be tight
@dees3179
@dees3179 Жыл бұрын
You could try two braids some days, I.e. one down each side, so the tension isn’t always in the same place. And also make the parting uneven then coil up the ends into a bun. So you get even more variation. I do this a lot and it looks surprisingly good. Bun pins/U pins are the trick. I’ve worn them under hard hats with no issues, unless your employer bans metal pins due to percussive impact risk. In which case I think I’d rather be working elsewhere!
@queenkoi
@queenkoi 10 ай бұрын
Braids are generally fine if the tension isn't too high and the hair tie you are using to secure them isn't damaging the hair. To ensure you aren't putting stress on the same points daily, just slightly alter the position of the braids or alternate between one, two, or three braids under the helmet. In all cases, it should be fine.

The low heat curler is great! My hair is too fine and slippery to stay in the no-heat curlers that look like this, so I just can’t get them to stay on my head long enough to do anything. But this thing is great because it only has to stay in for an hour, and it’s low heat so it doesn’t seem like it’s damaging my hair. Definitely a game changer for me!

Hi Chris, love your videos. My sister has been a hairstylist for 22 years. We’ve never like Pantene. Years ago I did a trial for a new Pantene shampoo that was coming out, they paid me $100 and they got a bad review. My sister was so happy but I made 100 bucks. Hey, it allowed me to buy really good products for my hair. One week didn’t damage the hair, but I definitely would never use it again. My hair felt like I was coding it with wax.

I like the low heat curler but would want one that doesn’t look like a glow stick necklace. Also with the frizz hack, the before hair looks like what I would consider a frizzy day for my hair. So it’s reassuring that Chris and Leslie say it’s not that bad.
@nikoletahanakova8573

The same result that is achieved with the low heat curler, you can use rope belt or a folded scarf. Wrap slightly damp hair around it and let it dry. Looks the same and is really low effort, you can even wear it overnight. The clip she has at the top of her head can be removed once the hair is wrapped. :-)

Chris, you mentioned that we should not apply hairspray before ironing the hair because of the high alcohol content. You recommend using the Redken Hot Sets heat protectant spray before ironing the hair, but that also contains alcohol as the second ingredient. Can you please explain the difference? That’s the only thing that confused me from your recommendations.

Hi, I'm bed bound and get extremely tangled hair particularly at the crown and as I'm not able to be mobile long enough to sit in the shower, I have to go through my hair with a rat tail comb to get through the tangles (when I am able and sometimes takes days doing this as I can only handle a little each day). Anyway, I haven't washed it properly in bed and I've noticed that a good solution is to drench my hair in oil for it to not get tangled up as quickly. I've also come to realise the if I braid it in loads of small braids instead of any over style it can help me, but I really really need help keeping my hair and scalp clean, I've tried many products for disabled people, but I can't stay in a chair for more than 10 minutes, can you please help me or do a video to help people who are really unable to move (or those who have to do things over a couple of days) as not to cause severe pain? I used to have very long and easy to control thick hair until I got a perm for going travelling back in the day, hence why it now tangles without even doing anything and therefore the need for braids or something to keep them controlled over a longer than usual period of time. advice is desperately needed 😍

Before I got scalp psoriasis and all my hair fell out (I wish TikTok was a thing back then!! Could have gotten some help), I used to put my hair in a high pony and curl it with a curling iron. Took way less time and my hair always looked great! It’s been about 3-4 years since the scalp psoriasis incident and my hair is finally back to its original length. I forgot all about this method and will def try it next week when I need to wash; I have a hair appointment tomorrow so I won’t need to wash my hair until Monday.

Hey Chris, got a question for you. Is the L’Oreal TECNI ART PLI Thermo-modelling spray a heat protectant? I bought it from the hair salon I go to and my hair stylist said it is but I used it a few times and saw so many split ends! I like using it to style my hair as it gives it some hold (much better than hairspray) but now I use it in conjunction with Redken Thermal Spray 11 or Redken Quick Blowout.

I left a comment on an older video on picking out tge best shampoo and conditioner. It was a year old so, not sure if you'll see that one and thought I'd ask my question on this video. My question is: How do you feel about pureology shampooandconditioner. I used that after dying my hair, and my hair wasn't frizzy and was silky. I tried the redkin, and my experience with pureology was a little better. I have some damage from covid and I've been on the hunt to find things to correct the damage or at least make it better. I feel lije pureology has worked the best. But these were samples and not full produt. In your opinion is it worth spending the money on?

In the West this is usually called a Japanese straightening, more stylists will know it by that name. It's highly effective and permanent but it's very easy to over process the hair which results in massive damage and it's easy to under process which only relaxes the curl. In order to get a good result you need to go to someone who does a lot of permanent straightenings and uses a good system like the liscio products or the shiseido. It doesn't have to be a Japanese salon, but if you have someone who's worked in Japan and really knows the products they may be your best bet because it's a very common service here. The after care is the same as what follows any major chemical process, you will be spending time and money on after care but it's worthwhile if you enjoy the result.

He has a video where he talks about this. IIRC, Chris said it’s about the quality of the sulfates, not having sulfate-free that matters. The higher quality products like Redken use better quality sulfates while drugstore shampoos use lower quality sulfates. The lower quality sulfates don’t cleanse as well, can strip hair and may cause irritation.

Can someone tell me why Chris’ recommendations such as the volume injection shampoo and the leave in conditioner dont work for my hair? 😢 Ive spent so much money on them. Im a medium in hairtype and these are what he listed. Im quite disappointed

I have fine stranded hair, but it’s kinky curly in texture. I have tried general hair products geared towards fine hair and they just don’t seem to work great. I only like the shampoos because they actually clean my scalp, but the conditioners have no slip and stylers are not heavy/silkening enough for my hair. Products geared towards tightly textured fine hair work well, but are probably more heavy than those general hair products. So, you might have to try the heavier products. Do you think you have medium hair or has a licensed professional told you that you have medium strands? You could have a mix of medium and coarse and your hair just works better with coarse products.

IIRC, the VI line is good for fine hair, and if you go longer between washes the shampoo is really good at cleansing the scalp. It’s likely just not the right shampoo for your hair type & needs. The quiz told me to use the VI shampoo but I decided to try the Extreme line as I have medium thick naturally red hair that needs more moisture & damage protection & it’s improved my hair so much. I don’t think I would have had the same results with the VI line. Also, I tried the All Soft conditioner & it just wasn’t enough moisture for my hair. It’s a bit of trial and error. If you’re talking about the Color Fanatic, you have to make sure you put enough on & and brush/comb it through. I have long (mid back length) hair & I use about 15-18 sprays, lifting & separating sections as I brush from roots to ends. Then finish with oil on the ends.

I bought the recommended ones as well and they dried out my hair and the hair oil just sucks. I went back to Pantene and Wella products and now my hair is recuperating.

I love how it’s like “frizz hair hack” and the hair is not that frizzy at all. Like do you even know the meaning of the word?? I’d do the same thing with my very frizzy and very curly hair and it would look like I’d been dragged through a bush by my ankles!!
