Replacing the Hayward TL 15 with an aftermarket part from the salt pool store. Yes the product works, but there are caveats, like a requirement for less salt in your pool. In the video I say Knoxville KY meant to say TN.

Just purchased one of these. Half the price of a Hayward and they Sent it FEDEX. Awesome!

My experience is this - I ordered the cell to replace the hayward t-15 I had, and the salinity was 5200 ppm from the controller. 4200 ppm measured by the controller is actually 2700 ppm. But, I needed to have around 4000 or 4200 ppm (controller measured) in order to make enough chlorine to keep the pool clear. The calibration is off.

Nice review. When the T-cell is installed horizontally the hump should be installed facing down. This ensures the plates are fully covered in water and there is no air bubble around the plates. This is particularly important with a variable speed pump at a low flow rate. The temperature sensor inside my cell failed after 3 months. Its silicone potted into the water stream and is really non-serviceable. If this happens your controller will display "HOT". I expect this is a common failing part, so Salt Pool Stores solution is to cut the red and blue wires to the thermistor inside the cell housing and wire a new thermistor to the red and blue wires running to the controller cable. Bad advice, since then it would only read the air temperature inside the housing and not the actual water temperature. You'll be back online but since the salt level is calculated by an algorithm in the main board that uses the voltage, amperage and water temperature, it will be affected by the difference between actual water temperature and measured air temperature. Best of luck to us Salt Pool Store buyers. We like it cause of price, but a thermistor failure after 3 months? Junk.

Their address says Knoxville, Tennessee, not Kentucky. My fault in the video.

Platinum cells leave the factory with an extra coating on the internal cell plates. This causes it to read higher upon installation (usually around 1000 ppm higher). You can remove a few inches of water and replenish with fresh water. As the extra coat wears away, you should start to see the levels normalize. The extra coating will actually extend the life of the cell just like the Genuine Extra Life salt cells. Standard cells read within 500 when 1st installed but don't last as long compared to the Salt Cells with Longer Warranty. Its recommend when installing the new extended life cell to run it at 2800ppm upon startup If you have any issues please reach out anytime we are here to help.

This is information that should come with the product so the customer isn’t freaking out on you guys. Glad you saw the video. So far since this video was produced, it is still working fine.

I am trying to recalibrate my salt level and it won't let me. And because the salt level is so high it won't generate. Ps does it matter which direction the generic cell is placed??

Don’t think it matters but the cable side on my old one was the inlet

I have heard/read many bad reviews of these cells. Low life expectancy, not honoring warranties….. and some decent reviews. I guess when you pay less than 1/2 price of a new Hayward, your mileage may vary. Did you test you salt level with another tester? Like Taylor K1766 test? I find my Hayward S3 reads my salt at 3400, my digital hand tester says 3200, and Taylor drop test says 3,000. Thanks for the review and smart “bench” test!

I bought a T15 salt cell from this company and we did everything to get it to work and it never worked. Read all the fine print before you dare to use The Salt Pool company. First red flag is they operate under several different names. Also if you have to return because it is defective you have to pay a 30% restocking fee = $108, shipping fees to you and shipping fee back to them, and then you don’t get your money back you just get store credit.

Warning, Salt Pool Store Will NOT Honor a 5 Year Warranty..Also, be very Careful with the Treads on each end of the Salt Cell.. They Break off and Crumble in chunks. That Salt Cell might last you 6 months
