I thought I was going crazy, and that my tackle bag was just nasty, but I guess it was the gulp. Thanks for the video am definitely getting one of those boxes for my gulp from now on

I use these to store my gulp baits. After flooding my tackle bag several times with juice from Gulp's leaky POS containers, I started using these. they're great.

Yeah those containers do leak. I've stunk up both my kayak and my car when they've leaked. But the absolute worst smell ever was when I was a little kid in 1976 and my family drove to Florida for vacation. I loved to fish even then, and we were using cut up squid for bait. They sold it in a paper cup. I was 9 years old then and left a cup of squid in the car, this was in August. To make matters worse it tipped over. You don't know what an unholy smell a spilled cup of squid produces in a car parked for a day in the Florida sun in August! We must have gone through 5 cans of air freshener on the drive back to Chicago lol and man was my mom mad!

Great vid! Its more because your buying the juice and the jar. You can always buy the bag and put them in the jar.

Flounder fishing we use super glue to glue baits torn off the jig , back together and it doesn't affect the fishing and makes the bait last longer

WalMart sells a QT container with a big screw lid that holds more, doesn't leak and only coat about $2.

If you look at them closely, I believe the Gulp in the jars and the Gulp in the Packs are made differently. The Jars are called Gulp Alive the Packs are just Gulp Saltwater. I prefer the Packs because the formulation of the bait seems to be more durable than the Gulp Alive in the jars.....I do like having a couple of the jars to put open packs in to keep them from becoming deformed or drying out after being opened.......But seriously, compare the 2 side by side and you'll see they're made differently.

Man I never did the math either! I’ll definitely be going that route from now on! As for the waterproof plano box though, I did use one of those to replace the gulp tub and it(at least the one I had) did leak and got all over the rest of my gear... had a heck of a time cleaning the funk off of everything... I now run a little Plano tub that I found at Walmart that is advertised specifically for those baits and that one has yet to leak

As John Skinner has found, one reason to get the "juice" is for refreshing your gulp bait while it is out of the water. He swears by it.

I have used those same Plano boxes for that purpose but on a couple of mine the latches have been destroyed and I was wondering if the juice from the Gulp was the culprit? Any of your subscribers have similar stories to tell? I really appreciate you dealing with tips like this. Keep up the good work.

...and I'm seeing many 'bags' at academy sports right now for 3.74. A four-ct of 4" shrimp ends up at less than $1.00 per bait. :) A ten-count of 4" curly tail ends up at $0.37/bait.

One thing it doesn't appear being given consideration is the recharge juice that comes in the bucket. Keep that in the water tight container for future use.

Isn't the most important commodity the Gulp Alive juice that the soft plastics come in? That way you can throw them (and any other soft plastic) back into the container and reuse your bait. This makes the quantity of plastics less important assuming they aren't getting torn up by the fish.

As far as the color changing over time I believe that's due to the juice affecting the color change over time instead of the baits bleeding into one another.

Is there any chance that you can take other soft bait and put them in the "Juice" for possible better results?

I can see there are many different colors of many different shapes. My question is. Is the scent the same in all the packets? In your vid you showed putting many different in one contained and pouring in shrimp juice onto all.

I am watching John Skinner’s videos. He has made a comment about the ones that are sold in the packet tend to be a little bit more firmer to the ones that are in the bucket. The ones in the bucket are softer more malleable. Just my two. Cents.

The larger ben also had a lot more juice and a tip to y'all put them in peanut butter jars or a plastic waterproof container there like square jars

Great tips Luke ..May I add buy the $20 Berkeley soft bait of your choice once and deposit the liquid in your Plano/Pelican h2o container and then buy the 6 packs as needed. How about entering Zman soft baits into this equation? I’m about to experience this soft bait scenario and I believe that it is every bit as exciting as fly fishing.There is a lot of finesse here. Tight lines down there in Hurricane country..Be safe !!

I assume the upcost is for the juice, right? Because opening that 6-pack, you're nearly guaranteed to lose the juice within a few hours of opening.

Is the GULP juice all the same in all packages, that you can mix them all together

I buy single packs and just poor the juice into that Plano box. Believe me after 3 packs into that Plano it gets filled

Great vid. So, the juice seems to be the driving factor with all gulp products. Everyone seems to be of the same opinion that the "formula" change awhile back making them even softer has basically ruined the product and made them a ripoff. You reported not long ago that Berkley got wind (finally) of all the pissed off customers, and decided to revert back to the original firmness. Without clear packaging to indicate "good" from "bad" as far as the tubs are concerned, it seems like a roll of the dice....which I wouldn't want to do. So have you tried to take other brands of soft plastic, such as my personal favorite, DOA shrimp, and soak them for a few weeks in the gulp juice? I realize the material used in Berkley shrimp (and others) is DESIGNED so that the juice will easily impregnate the material., so it would be a matter of finding out how to "soften" up a more durable brand, and giving them a soak in Berkley juice. Even at .99 a pop, and the ability to catch one, maybe 2 fish before its toast, is still a ripoff. Z-man shrimp, if it would hold the scent, would be a Godsend IMO.

What's your thoughts on the age of the juice? I have noticed that it turns a darker color with time.

Luke, I believe the Gulp in the bucket is a different material than what's in the packet. I'm a member of Saltstrong and I know there has been discussions on the material used.

That’s insane that the jars are more per bait. I think I’d rather just buy a waterproof Plano and some gulp packets. Maybe ven buy a recharge bottle of gulp.

But with the bucket you get the juice ... and thus can refresh a bait after you have used in the saltwater ... I thought this was the rationale for the higher cost.

They could make the packets easier to COMPLETELY seal and the tubs the same, but they don't because they want you to spend more $$. It is best not to buy more than you may use so they don't get wasted. .

I find those 3-clasp plastic containers pretty difficult to open. Since the lid doesn't lay flat, it can be off-balance. It's probably easier to leave them in the odd-shaped flat container from gulp. I also never remove the plastic film that is under the lid when you buy a container. I just slit it with a knife. I think that the little bit of film over the lip helps act as a seal.

I’ll stick with live shrimp for that price
