7 жыл бұрынSaluda Grade washout below Melrose, NC past slaughter pen cut & Big Falls Creek trestle. Video taken January 14, 2017. Track from Melrose to the washout is in good shape considering it has been sitting for 15 years.

I would say there is a 99% chance this line is done forever.

The railroad can repair this, this isn't the first time that a section of track has been destroyed by Erosion.

Its not the only part plus invasive kudzoo there are two sections where kudzoo cover the tracks and you cant see the washout underneath the tracks

I was there just a few days ago like me and my girlfriend hiked it from Saluda to Tryon it was 5 hours and it didn't get bigger but it got deeper

Must've been some really intense flood if it could cause a washout on a grade as steep as Saluda's.

If I win the lottery I will try too buy the line and make it in to a tourist railroad from Spartanburg to Asheville and call it the Saluda railroad it’s my dream to do this but I doubt it will ever happen because reality gots to come in at some point It’s kinda sad
