I've been to El Salvador 3 different times and I searched high and low and it's heart breaking that there is virtually no archaeological artifacts from our native American ancestors. When I learned of the horrible genocide and massacres of the native people including as late as the 1930's and 1940's then later massacres that planted the seed for the civil war, it all made sense. Basically the darker your skin and if you dressed indigenous, you were dead man walking. People tried to dress "white" and got rid of any statues or idols that could deem them as less than catholic and therefore could get you killed. It's impressive the way people tried to hide their native roots just to survive....

Raquel Rusu what! We have tons! There are towns where they even speak nawat- and we have the Pompeii of the Americas - the only place where you can see how the indigenous Central Americans lived - there’s been a great movement over the years to revive lots of the native things

Don't listen to the haters bro! Why would anybody want to fake their genetic makeup! People are probably expecting you to be blonde/ have bright colored eyes just because you have high percentage of European blood perhaps. Little do they know phenotype does not always correlate with the amount of genetic make up in you. Im glad you shared your results. My parents are also from El Salvador. You are welcome to check out my results on my page. Thanks for the informative video by the way.

It looks like you are a part of most of the continents of the world. That is great. There were about 200 families that the Romans carried to Europe and they became Ash ken azee Jews. These are the Jews of Europe. Iberia had the Sephardi Jews from Arabia. Have a good life and may you be blessed with many healthy children!

Hey Robert there was a significant amount of Italian immigrants who left the peninsula ,during the 19th century, to Central America. Perhaps, many of them were from Sardinia. A lot of Sicilians moved to the States and a lot of northern Italians migrated to Brazil. My family is from Northern El Salvador and from what I've read from local historians is that many Galicians(Northern Spain) arrived during the colonial period and settled there. Hope it helps.

A likely hypotheses for your European ancestors not being Iberian is that they were recent immigrants to Spain from south and Central Europe who eventually migrated to the americas from Spain

Your results were one of the most shocking to me when I first clicked on your video I guessed 60% Native American , 35% Iberian , 5% North African , the Ashkenazi might be tied with the Sicilian there was and still is (as far as I know) a big Ashkenazi presence in Sicily especially in the city of Palermo

AncestryDNA only considers "Iberian" the Basque and pre-Indoeuropean bloodlines, but you could still be very easily 50/50 Spanish, as the other European (as well as North African and Middle Eastern) ethnicities you mentioned can be considered Spanish.

This results are way off. He is as European as me in terms of DNA makeup according to his Ancestry DNA, still my skin is super White like you and I have a very Mediterranean phenotype. Lots of people think I am Italian, and I came around 65% European and 30% Native American. I agree with you. His results are more like 60-65% Native American, maybe 30% European at the most and like 5-10 African.

100 percent salvadorena just born in the USA. 38 percent native American and the rest mostly Iberian peninsula and 8 percent British. I keep telling my dad to start using better adjectives to describe our beautiful Brown skin. The way even their voice changes in Spanish when they say prieto, short, Indio hits me really wrong. I tell him why not use morena piel canela. Don't let racism unconsciously make us ashamed of our native American blood. Thank you for staying so positive!!

Yeah it's hard to believe that most of the people who went on to settle all of the region of Mexico and South America including of course all the Amazonian tribes..came down through whats now Alaska and Canada. and 15,000 years ago people hadn't yet even reached that far south...they were just getting to what is now the United States. They started moving into South America 12,000 years ago.. South America was the last major human migration on Earth... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_human_migration#/media/File:Spreading_homo_sapiens_la.svg

Colin Pacific Rim ~ In addition to the Lost City of Atlantis and of course Mu...the majority of the source populations for the original migration into both North and South America came from the area east of the Yenisei River in Russia.. "There is general agreement among anthropologists that the source populations for the migration into the Americas originated from an area somewhere east of the Yenisei River. The common occurrence of the mtDNA Haplogroups A, B, C, and D among eastern Asian and Native American populations has long been recognized.."

Given the comments all of the videos, I think people take these genetic tests a little too literally. Let's not forget that they are mostly an educated guess and nothing more. They are certainly not a genealogy tree.

Ancestry gave me only 2 per cent Iberian, but WeGene gave me 29.84 per cent "Spain". Both sites gave me about 1 per cent Native American, but on DNA Land I got 1.20 per cent Native America [Ambiguous Native American]. Ancestry gave me mostly Irish. I have no paper trail to Ireland, the Iberian Peninsular or any Native American people. It's all a bit random. Have you tried the new MyHeritage one?

Skin color has nothing to do with, for example, do you think middle eastern people are black or native american cuz they are dark skinned? No, they're fully caucasian, you don't have to look like a North European (very pale ski, blue eyes) to be caucasian. btw, southern european are a bit dark and have brown dark or black hair and brown eyes, so, there's no way he is going to look North European. Ignorance, I suppose you thought you were at least %70 european becuase you are "fair skin", omg, IT'S ALL ABOUT FACIAL FEATURES! Now, go and get some read.

i am very surprised that your Iberian dna is so low. But the most likely explanation is that your white ancestors are more recent immigrants to ES. if you think about it, your indigenous dna is more pure as it did not mingle with the conquistadors. I think you should be honored that you have a very unique ancestry. have you talked with older members of your family? whether it be grandparent or great aunts and uncles.
@LordBrightblade
@LordBrightblade 7 жыл бұрын
Mmm sorry to burst you bubble, but the AVERAGE Spaniard only has around 55% Iberian. The rest is mostly Italy/Greece and Irish/British. And it is not just because of the Romans, it is also native peninsular dna that Ancestry has just decided to label Italy/Greece. The Irish/British is from the Iberian Celts. So even with those results it's still entirely plausible that none of your ancestors ever set foot in either the British isles or Italy/Greece.
@RobRafiele
@RobRafiele 7 жыл бұрын
LordBrightblade well, you didn't "burst any bubbles" .. and yes I understand Spanish genetics and Mediterranean ones - I've done research in my family records and yeah.. Sardinian in fact - thanks for your input :)
@LordBrightblade
@LordBrightblade 7 жыл бұрын
It was just a way of speaking :) Sardinian DNA is apparently very "ancient" and isolated, quite distinct to the rest of Europe, so it should be relatively easy to compare and find matches with other people. Good luck!
@RobRafiele
@RobRafiele 7 жыл бұрын
LordBrightblade yes lol it probably one of the most preserved, and it's even diverse in the island - someone from the northern part will have some Hungarian- Central Europe DNA (which is what I have too) - so i think it is cool... how well preserved it's been even in America with intermixed people like Latinos. :)

YUP even tho we Salvadorans speak funny to most other Latino country's we are very native or very European since there was no Afro descendants in my lil country as slavery was abolished and gypsies , Palestinians and Jews were allowed in the early years, as well as asians in the gold rush years in North America as the Salvadoran port was one of the first in the Pacific ocean , I am so curious to know if my great great father was the guy from the Ricola commercial , lmao

The thing about Ancestry DNA results is that they are averages (or means, rather), and when you click on each region result, you should see a range. For example, I got 3% for my Iberian Peninsula result, but my range was 0%-11%, so I could have as little as no Iberian ancestry or as high as 11% Iberian ancestry. You have to look at your results in terms of those ranges rather than the initial averages that you see because they sometimes reveal how uncertain and imprecise Ancestry DNA can be. That doesn't mean the results are made-up. It's just that they are fuzzy. As for your high Italian ancestry, that really does sound interesting. I wonder whether it's apparent from the surnames of your ancestors.
@RobRafiele
@RobRafiele 7 жыл бұрын
My dad's family is clearly more native... my mom doesn't know much about her biological father, I wish I could find them, I would love to know what their surnames were. I'm pretty sure I got most of the Italian from her, because she's probably almost all European with the African, (I'm gonna test her). My dad is Mestizo, still I didn't inherit the Iberian, or there isn't any on his side either.
