El Salvador has a diverse Native American ethnicity groups, the western and northern Natives are Pocomame and Chorti, both are Mayan groups....western central natives are Pipil which are Toltec origin (not aztec)....eastern natoves are Lenca which are related to chibcha of Amazon.....there are also the Cacaopera and Ulua, which are a Misulmapan nativr group

@@RobRafiele I'm salvadorian actually , I was really surprised you had Italian and sardinian ancestry. Then again I guess it isnt , my dad side of the family seems to have a strange fascination with not only Spaniard but Italian culture too.My dad also doesn't like it alot when people are anti semitic , and Spain had many Jews at one time . I also think I have African ancestry because of my hair and nose , people have asked me before if I'm part black or Brazilian. Then probably native , possibly mayan.

It's very interesting that so many Central Americans have more Italy/Greece genetic background than from Iberian Peninsula. On the other hand we must understand that Spanish people are not really "Spanish" but they have also wide range scale of heritage from "Western Europe", "Italy/Greece", "North Africa", "British" and even "Scandinavian". Let's not also forget that immigrants from Italy came mostly from Southern part of Italy, not from northern Italy.

Americans don't seem to understand that human beings have legs and people travel and mix with other populations. In Europe we are all mixed up between us, almost no one is completely English, French, Polish or German. I live in Italy and I am Italian and in my DNA there is Italian blood, but almost half of it is Germanic and Celtic. And it's normal, since my father is from Northern Italy, whose ancient inhabitants were the Longobards but that was also in the hands of Romans, Austrians, French, etc., while my mother comes from central Italy and her ancestors were the ancient Romans. Italians have Italian DNA, but they can also have Iberian, Slavic, Jewish, Greek, Celtic, Germanic and North African DNA, because humanity is always on the move and Italy has always been a place of war and conquest and Italians have always been great travelers and traders. There are even Italians who have zero Italian DNA, because there are some ancient villages with ethnic minorities of Albanian, Greek or Austrian origin, but they are Italians anyway, because their families live in those territories for generations. It's very likely that his "Italian" ancestor was a "Spaniard" with Italian DNA.

Dude. We all have some surprises with these tests. I was surprised to find that my mostly English/Scottish family has a whopping 38 percent Germanic component. And a smaller component from Scandinavia. I know that doesn't sound traumatic, and it isn't, but it still made me re-evaluate my idea of who my family (is). At least you're twenty something percent Native American. I don't have any of that. That's a pretty big percentage. We have 22 percent Scottish. I know you might be a little upset now, but I think that you will learn to embrace this.

You do have a very Greek phenotype. You're basically a Greek guy with some Amerindian heritage by virtue of being from El Salvador. I have a similar DNA breakdown as you. My mother is Peruvian, my father is European. I'm 67 European and 17 Amerindian. But instead of being Greek/Italian, I'm more West European/Scandinavian. And surprisingly, only 11% Iberian. The results shocked me to say the least. Your Greek side definitely shows! If you went to Greece they would think you're a local.

dude, I'd say that some of your family moved to El Salvador within the last 100+ years or so, and that would explain the 60%. My last name is Rodriguez and it's from a region of Spain (I forgot where) that was settled by Germanic tribes and it (last name) derives from Roderick, which is German. The funny thing is that I've always been fascinated with Germany before I found out about this and my second name (a Spanish name) also has its roots in the Germanic language.

Where did the 23% of Native American last names go . LOL . Good video bro, I also have a couple cousins who got 10% African and about 30-40 % Native American. Some of the African bloodline came through the slave trade via the Americas, not necessarily from Moorish kingdom as some believe. In fact San Miguel at one time it's census reported I high Mulato population around the early 1800's (don't quote me on the year). Ill forward you a video backing up that information. I am 17% African, mostly from Africa North 29% Native American 48% European 32% Italy & Greek 7% Iberian Peninsula 7% Irish Less than 1% Europe west and less than 1% European Jewish 6% West Asian which is Middle Eastern They teach us that Latinos have a lot of Spaniard blood but its very eye opening to learn that some of us don't have as much ! My brother in law (great guy) is from El Salvador and I have always wondered where most Salvadorians come from. My nephew is half Salvadorian too so this is really interesting. I haven't seen the results yet but from what I have seen from of South American videos, there is a lot more British than most people realize. I'm guessing that's the surprise. YOU WHITE bro!!

I think based on your results those sites appear to be more accurate and more detailed. I appreciate your insights on this ancestry research issue as I hadn't heard of those sites. I wonder if my brother in law has any idea about his Italian ancestry. Thanks for this.

Jim Beam probably not - because Salvadorans are taught they are Spanish. We've even had genocides, killing anyone who wasn't - so it's probably why everyone denied their other identities.

Where do you think most of the people originally living in Mexico, South America and the Caribbean.came from? Way before Europeans and African influence. They crossed the Bering Strait into Alaska then the United States and then migrated South. The people of South America are "mostly" Native American, European/White and African....with varying mixtures.

How far back in your tree have you traced back? Is it possible you are also descended from Italian immigrants that came to El Salvador? Maybe you could look through all your family lines. Maybe some of the ones you thought were Spanish were actually Italian...? Also from my understanding, the people from Spain are a mixture of Celtic, Iberian, and Roman and sometimes North African. There were different groups that settled in Spain.

Colin Pacific Rim you mean 23andMe? I am a Mestiza and already took the 23andMe genetic test. I'm proud of being almost equally Native and European. I said that because instead of having part of his percentages from Spain, he got them from Greece and Italy. his percentage of Iberian Peninsula was small and I've seen other Latinos who have hardly any Spanish and were of Italian & Greek descent instead. I find it so fascinating. Goes to show you that our conquistador ancestors came from other nationalities in Europe. This is part of history and it's so beautiful. I want to try the Ancestry test as well to compare the two. Whether I'm more European or not, that's not the point. As long as the test is mostly accurate. What I wish these tests could also do is give the groups of our Native side. Who on here knows what company takes your genetic reading and can tell you that? I know I have Kickapoo Indian and Otomi from knowledge passed down by family members, but I would really love to know. I'm also 2.6% African and I wish I knew what countries in Africa too. #proudtobeaLatina #proudtobemixed #Iembraceallofme ✌😎

A lot of people years ago, much like today, since we kinda had nothing better to do, i.e. no internet. lol We spoke several languages and many would travel abroad to study in another country. One of the ladies of Greece may have traveled to Spain and married a male member of your family and that may have been repeated with one of her children making the Greek/Italian prevalent. Although we are a big world, people traveling was very common for folks as much as it was for people to stay in one spot for years. You can definitely see the Greek in you. One day I hope to see what I find in my DNA!

The proportions of these tests can fluctuate; not consistent. For example, George Lopez was tested as largely European; although he practically looks like a full Mayan. Also, an admixture can be blown up. You should try it again. All these tests can do is give a general idea. I've noticed that European Spanish results are particularly inconsistent, sometimes showing a strong ancient link to either the "British" and "Italy/Greece" categories. The ancient markers can get conflated with the more recent identities.

All wars are started by evil hearts and all of us are naturally evil. Divisions are started by comments such as “disappointed” to being from one group and saying you find it “cool” being from another group. That is where it gets all started, I know you corrected yourself but your first response is what creates hatred towards one another, thanks for contributing to the divisions towards one another.

I haven't read but a few comments but here's my take. Reason the DNA stayed pretty pure the last few generations is because once a group of people migrated to a place they formed a community or city. Then inner married for several generations thus keeping the DNA pure. Migration of people was usually caused by a castrophe (Irish famine to name one) or opening up of a new trade route. Also due to conquering another country but these things had their time periods. Only with introduction of trains, cars and air planes has the world opened to continuous migrating.

Rob, bear in mind that these tests are "estimates", so they give you an average of your ethnicity makeup. That is because they don't test all SNP markers and the tests aren't accurate enough to tell exactly where you came from. It's possible that you would be more of 1 ethnicity if you tested with another site. I'm curious to know what company breaks down your Native American tribes? As far as I know, there aren't any that can do this accurately. Gedmatch maybe?

Your family is sure to be from the west of El Salvador, there were many Greek and Irish boats, in the whole northern area came many Germans and Galicians, but none of these beats the Palestinians and French Jews, it is said that the Palestinians arrived before that the Spaniards, but it is more of a joke to say that, for its part the French Jews have arrived since 1800, in our word we have many Gallicism, for example "chero" of the French "cher" in Spanish means "querido" and " salu ", of the French" salú "in Spanish does not exist that word, but its homologous is" hasta pronto "the Spaniards for their part were concentrated in the whole country, the majority came from Galicia and Asturias, on the other hand, the country , is also in the top of the 5 countries with more Asians especially Taiwanese and Korean, and as an extra bonus in the "blue book of El Salvador" says that the majority of the population was black, as our Indians were very rebellious andthey always revealed themselves to the Spaniards, they killed them constantly, and probably the Salvadorans would have more indigenous people and blacks if there had not been a genocide of these in 1932 where they exterminated indigenous people, and expelled people of African descent, I think that is the explanation of your genetics greetings compatriot
