Italian tenor Salvatore Fisichella was born in Catania (Sicily) in 1943; he lives there and made his debut in Werther at Spoleto in 1970. His vocal range, flexibility and incisive phrasing led him to branch out beyond belcanto into the Romantic repertoire. The tenor has appeared regularly at the world's most renowned theatres, singing celebrated operas by Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Meyerbeer, Verdi and Puccini.

I've always thought Fisichella to be one of the most underrated tenors. He should have been the fourth tenor, perhaps even an alternating tenor in the Three Tenor ensemble.

If he weren't underrated tenor he never would be a teacher. I think he belongs to the best world tenors who ever lived.

This is the payoff for an excellent technique. 59 years old and clear, beautiful, lyric singing. I am somewhat curious that he is not better known?

wow......most tenors, even pavarotti hold the high A at "roo...." longer, but he holds at the high B, at "ceeeeeeeeeee...." ! amazing!
