If you produce music you would know that this is not a simple beat AT ALL. All of the musical elements are very hard to recreate. Even the way he’s processed his vocals are very strange.

The late 70s disco is an underrated genre with a very interesting history behind it. It’s so looked down upon to and has been for a long time due to a very effective disinformation campaign that was orchestrated by the record companies themselves, along with the introduction of the programmable keyboard. No longer were large ensembles of brass and string musicians needed. One could simulate that on the new keyboard technology (I think you see where this is going) In order to “kill” the genre, staged recording burning rallies were organized, and even themes associated with black and gay people, and the new AIDS epidemic and herpes were used to help stigmatize disco. The fear appeal that was used was the idea of “if you’re still listening to disco in 1982… YOU MIGHT BE GAY… and if you’re GAY, you are likely carrying the deadly AIDS virus and herpes!!! So get your gay self checked and stay away from the normal people” And that’s a brief summary as to how THAT happened I would love to hear a version of this featuring old moog and Oberheim synthesizers, a bass guitar, and a string and brass ensemble as if he year were 1977

The reason the beat is hitting so hard is because of the sidechain/ducking effect in the song and its combined with this specific key and the synths used are very lush. But in other words. "It's hitting so fucking hard."
