I think they used the same voice lines from the original. It does not really seem like sam or max changed that much the support characters simply changed the context of there lines.

ill be honest: the jokes changed were fairly minor. like, very minor. the rub my unicorn bit was unchanged, the jokes about max being gay were unchanged, the camp of hugh bliss is completely unchanged. the changes are so slight that to be honest, as someone who never played the originals before the remaster, the changes arent that bad.

But that doesn't completely ruin the remaster, and I will admit that it was great that they included the original version. It's still good for new players, but if you don't support the new censorship, just stick with the original.

If you're going to remove a joke, remove it all traces of it, otherwise it'll completely halfass.

@@1234fakerstreet but that's the charm of Sam and Max games (at least it was a charm, apparently) - for being edgy and joking about racist and sexist themes. It's not a bad thing to remaster an old game and give it some polishing, but when developers don't like some jokes and "Bosco being voiceacted by not a black person", this is where it crosses the line. Devs also stated, that they are interested in more remasters, and this could only be a tip of a huge iceberg, where the whole scenes could be cutted, and I don't like this kind of "remasters", honestly.

Removing what made it stand out from every other point & click is just gonna make it, well.... just another point & click. The series is humoristic, if you can't take a joke when the entire SERIES premise is making jokes then maybe you'd think that it's just not for you. The fact that Skunkape Games went as far as to say that Sam & Max wouldn't make fun of anybody for what they can't help being when that's what they have always been doing really makes you think what kind of people are in charge of the series.

If it’s a cartoon, expect exaggeration. Samurai Jack’s voice is equally as “offensive” it’s that monotone, accented Japanese samurai voice. It’s a stereotype. It’s equally as “offensive” for the same reasons. Simply having characters with accents or speech patterns that exaggerate their respective ethnic group’s traits in a cartoon isn’t inherently racist. Punch-Out for the Wii does the same and that’s not racist. Nothing in Bosco’s character is making a negative statement about black people. He just has a silly voice in the same way Sam, Max, Lincoln, Grandpa Stinky, and others have funny voices. So, to me, it’s more offensive to fire the original actor simply on the basis that it’s not politically correct to have a Jew voice a black person. Especially because the new actor is nowhere near as funny as the old one (not because of stereotypical voices, but because the new performance is just plain worse).

What made Sam & Max special was its clever and unconventional wordplay. "Unfiltered crude humor" isn't at all special, and if you want it so bad look to literally any adult animated show ever made for your fix. In fact, given that this is a game for older teens and adults, making it raunchy would make it more "safe" and blending into products with a similar demographic than as is.

As soon as I heard Bosco's voice in the original I groaned and said "Of course they didnt hire a black guy to play the black guy." It's not that he's a bad actor (isn't he the guy who voices Miles?) it's that he's both a terrible choice for the role and given terrible direction. The industry definitely needs to open up and make space for more minority actors, but a lot of people are taking the wrong approach and are actually being far more insensitive than those they're calling out.

1. They changed the jokes just because they, the AUTHORS and DEVELOPERS of this game, liked them changed and have every right to make THEIR GAME like they want. The "RMS DLR" problem was just a bug (it was a license plate from another car) and they fixed it so now it still says "DRG DLR".

Adding to what I said, the jokes that were changed were either insensitive or offensive to audiences who are trans, have special needs, school shooting victims, whatever the heck a skinhead is, and just other groups. The only joke I don't understand them censoring was the drug dealer license plate. As a teen game, it wouldn't really change the rating and would most likely just get a chuckle from somebody seeing it and not a twit longer on why the game should be taken down.

it doesn't even sound like a chris rock impersonation. chris rock's voice has actual character to it. i don't even like chris rock but his voice is very distinct. this new voice sounds like a wet sponge. it has no character, it's just a completely generic voice that not only sounds generic, but the performance is also awful. the original bosco was probably the best part of the whole game. i loved going into his store and seeing what he was up to next and the voice actor made it work.
