In the second part of his coaching course filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Brentford B assistant coach Sam Saunders gives his team a set number of attacks to beat a low block in an opposed scenario.
Saunders sets his players up in a 3-4-3 formation, to attack a defending team comprised of two banks of four and a goalkeeper. The attacking team works in three separate blocks, in which they are given 10 balls to try to break down the low block in front of them and score. The practice is set up to encourage the attacking team to use the principles covered in the first half of Saunders’ session, including creating and using wide overloads, central penetrations and an intense counter-press.
This excerpt is taken from the first block of attacks.
