Ever since his mcu debut in winter soldier as a former paragliding unit in some branch of the military, to hosting sessions for people's mental health, to literally getting back in the fight to help captain America himself, to so many movies that have him as a big role, and he's now the new captain America. You need to get your facts straight. The movies show that time and time again.

And Cap didn't pic the shield up jus to have it, but what the shield represents, freedom, honor, that's what Cap believed in, he picked it up bc he jus wanted to do what any other solider wants, to fight for their country, and all Cap wanted to do was fit in, he's a hero, so is Sam

Captain Steven Rogers will forever be the rock that grounded the avengers and the selfless super soldier that put the world about himself but Sam is more then capable of the same and more than worthy of that shield.

Captain America doesn't mean that he is a super soldier with blonde hair, blue eyes and white face. Anyone can be Captain America. Anyone can be the successor of Steve Rogers if they do. Captain America is a protector who risks his life to save us. Who almost dies just for our survival. A true honest pure man risking his life just for the better of us is the definition of Captain America.

Two being a black man carrying the stars and stripes doesn't make him understand anything especially how the government works when half the world disappears and comes back. Even in other films people have lost there homes because they came back and someone else lives there. The economy is falling apart in the MCU and his only answer is "do better". "Oh just let me magic up homes for people" what is he supposed to do? "Do better?" At what? Thats not an answer.

And he fought along side - An alien God - a genius in a robot suit - 2 Soldiers that was augmented with a super soldier serum - a man augmented by a herb similar to super soldier serum plus a full body armor made of Vibrainium - some aliens using alien tech - a teenage boy with superhuman strenght, agility and reflexes - a witch - an android with an infinitystone in his forhead And he still did his part eventhough if you looked at the powers of everyone him being there or not wouldnt make a difference. Tarzan is a white character in book so letting a black person play makes no sense just for the sake of showing inclusiveness. Yesss, while Steve Rogers may be the original, it can be anyone. The mantle changes many times in the comics and I am glad that this is represented in the movies. Personally I would also like to see Bucky take up the mantle for a bit.

No he is, Steve Rogers was special among the candidates for the super serum. He took what was meant to be a propaganda mantle and turned it into a personal identity of doing right no matter what. Very few people can live up to that legacy. And ironically the person who came the closest was John Walker. Then two petty dickheads broke his arm, stole his shield, and tried to get him sent to prison for killing a terrorist who just killed his best friend on a mission lol.

Sam Wilson’s character was originally an Air Force pilot, so Captain America’s title isn’t limited to one race. However the Black Panther mantle can only be taken up by a member of the Royal Family in Wakanda, who just so happens to be black.

That’s not why people don’t like it. There’s a comic from the 70’s where Falcon declines membership to the avengers because they literally say they only want him on the team because Hes black. And in the comics and the show they only made him Cap because he’s black. Bucky filled in for Steve first, it should have been him if anyone, but it should have been neither. Steve Rogers is Captain America.

Listen, I love Steve too, I own a few hundred old Cap comics but people need to understand the importance of Sam Wilson’s Captain America, even in the comics he’s a very different symbol than Steve. I love both characters and what each one stands for. It feels wrong for people to take Steve and try and say he is way better, when he was a very different hero. You may have liked him more but that doesn’t make Sam Wilson and less important. Steve was a WW 2 propaganda poster when he was created. He fought the Nazis and later fought for racial equality trying to lead by representing what a hero and an American should be. Sam is a veteran who’s war has changed through the years sense his creation. He’s supposed to not be that pillar of perfection Steve is, instead in todays world he tries to point out the failings of America and lead in a very different way, fighting for truth above all else. They are not the same and are not supposed to be but both are Captain America.

The reason why Sam brought up racial features is because that's why he was being judged - on his appearance. "You're not Cap because you don't look like Cap." People forgot about Cap's sense of duty which Sam shares which is why Steve passed it on to him. But the white suit is ridiculous.

@@CostumedCrusader yeah indeed I am still going to see the movie because I love that Sam is now the new Captain America and of course what is set up in the fifth episode Torres is now the new Falcon since he got Sam's old wings. And they even got Harrison ford to play General Thaddeus Ross / Red Hulk to honor William Hurt who played Thaddeus Ross in The Incredible Hulk Captain America Civil War Infinity War endgame and black widow.

@Simply unlimited Same. Personally it still feels weird referencing Sam Wilson as Captain America because when I think of Captain America, I think of Steve Rogers. But I love Sam and I love how he was reluctant to take on the mantle at first and once realizing what taking on that mantle would mean for minorities, he decided to step up. I though his character development was done really well.

Still think it should have gone to Bucky first, save me the political bs, Falcon was already a hero, Bucky's whole arc was getting rid of the Winter Soldier name, i dont see a better way than to make him the next Cap, and elevating Falcon from falcon the sidekick to a The main hero Falcon.

To be honest I had my own theory of what I was hoping he would do. Hear me out, I was hoping that Sam would take the shield and go to wakanda with Bucky and talk to Shuri and ask her to make him a suit similar to Black panthers suit. Imagine falcon being able to fly through the air and take damage and then he can use that same damage and fly into things making kinetic explosions. I think he would be way more efficient than just flying around with just the regular Captain America suit. T' achalla made new shields for Steve. I'm pretty sure shuri would make a good suit for sam

I'm a lightskin African-American. I'm also a full stack developer. I'm a black man carrying a laptop full of codes. Every time I start coding, I see the looks, the judgments, the uncertainty. There is nothing I can do to change it. Didn't go to college, was self-taught and was raised by a single mother in the hood and I'm still here. The only power I have is that I have the ability to do better because of my kids and ignore the judgments, the questions in how i learned and the constant reference to, "why didn't you play ball".

@@BlackOmegaEntThey don’t want to deal with the truth, because it sounds too much like conviction. Rather than being better they’d rather say someone has a victim mentality or race card to avoid accountability. Telling the truth about race/ethnicity issues from another perspective than your own shouldn’t make anyone uncomfortable, but it does when it contradicts their own beliefs.
