Well, Dan, with my experiences in amateur radio, I wanted to explain the differences in the UHF radio, which is using GMRS channels, but they are showing frequencies instead of GMRS channels. I didn't want people watching my video and going out and just buying these to find out that they couldn't talk to their friends that had Cobra, Midland or any of the FRS/GMRS radios. That is why in the Community section of our KZfaq channel you will see a post I made and the last pictures shows how the SAMCOM channels correlate to the FRS/GMRS channels. Thanks, Todd. Small world isn't it, I have been a amateur radio operator since 1996, and just got my GMRS license in January. We will do a follow up video; we will give them a try this fall for hunting season when the leaves are all off. I just got another set of radios in the mail yesterday, now of course these a sold and promoted as Amateur Radio handhelds. Will be doing a video on them here in the very near future as well. Jason, they are nice and seemed to be built sturdy. But they might not be for the average person thinking they can buy these and talk to their buddy who has a set of Walmart brand radios. They do transmit on FRS and GMRS, but there programmed into the radio in a different order, as can be seen buy the photos I posted on the "Community" tab on our KZfaq channel. Also, the company has programmed in privacy codes on each channel. Once you have figured all this out, then yes you could talk to your buddy with his Walmart brand radio once he has put in the right privacy code. Of course, I have found out and even downloaded the programming software for these radios, so I could program mine and Jerod's to work just like any other FRS/GMRS radio and even turn off the privacy codes. That way we could talk to anyone who had a FRS/GMRS radio. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie

Thanks, Steve. I know it is long but want people to know that if you buy these radios, and a friend has a set of Cobra FRS radios from Walmart that you won't be able to talk to each other. If you go to my Community section and look at the photos I posted, you will see the last photo I shared has the standard FRS and GMRS channels and the associated frequencies, then in pencil I have written down what channel goes with the FRS and GMRS frequencies from the SAMCOM. Then SAMCOM has also set privacy codes on those channels on their radios. If you don't know how to program those codes, once you find the right FRS or GMRS channel on the Cobra radio you still won't be able to talk back and forth. It is like the SAMCOM is a proprietary set of radios. Only people who have those radios can talk to each other. That is why this video is so long. I probably did a poor job of explaining that.
