As always, great video. I have to say, watching you do these things (And please know I mean this is only the best way possible) because your unsophisticated style of working and explaining things speaks to me on what feels like an equal level and gives me tons of confidence in my own endeavors. I don't ever have to say "Yeah well HE can do it because look at his incredible expensive setup" or "his experience level puts him way above the average guy". I love that about your approach and its why I love tuning into your channel whenever you put something out, even when it has nothing to do with Laser Engraving. :) You seem like someone I could walk up to at a Wal-Mart and ask a question of and you would gladly answer. Please keep that "regular guy" style about you and never change because I am sure I am not alone that cherishes your approachability.

For the laser freaking out issue get a UPS (CyberPower or APC) for the laser. That will clean the signal up and also give you some extra time running if needed a light, tablet and laser will only use 100-130 watts.

Sam the man in action !!! Love it !!! How does the engraving hold up to use ? Like stirring soups and stews. Do you need to re-oil them after using and washing ?
@Samcraftcom
@Samcraftcom Жыл бұрын
The engraving should last a very long time since they're placed in a general low-friction point of the utensil. The utensil's lifespan before needing to be touched up and oiled again depends on the user and how they care for it. Submerging or dunking in fluids is a killer to the utensil. It robs them of the oils and strips them down again. It's not the end of the world (usually) but does mean sanding and oiling them again as if new.

Hey, Sam, do you ever make and monogram cutting boards? My daughter was married this year and shes a culinary graduate. I'm not sure what you would sell it for and if I have the budget, but it would be cool to get a cutting board for them with a monogram. Since they hyphenated their last name, I think it will be too long to fit on utensils nicely.

Hey Sam, love your channel. The reason why the drill press and laser can’t operate together is the motor on the press is kicking out all kinds of conducted emissions back onto the power line…..more than the laser’s power supply can filter out. You might want to do some research into power line filtering. I’m not an electrical engineer but I work on a lot of projects with EEs and this comes up a lot in our designs, so I’m not 100% sure if it would be better to put the filter on the press or the laser. If you got a UPS that also did power quality filtering you could put that on the laser and it should knock that down.
@Samcraftcom
@Samcraftcom Жыл бұрын
Ahhh... that totally makes sense! I have an ISObar somewhere in the shop (in one of these boxes) that I bought for the CNC when I got it, but never needed it. I should try to dig it up and put the laser on it. It's supposed to help with interference. :)

I don't know if your sanding mop is able to be taken apart. But there is one on Amazon that does come apart and you can make your own sanding mop pads by cutting small strips of sandpaper, punching a hold in the center, and stacking them. It's tightened by a nut and you can make them thick or thin and any grit. I learned of this from another KZfaq that carves wood spirits with a Dremel Tool, and he makes his own sanding mops on smaller jigs...
