In this video I talk about the backswing feels for the square to square golf swing. The main things are a centered pivot, a square club face to the arc, initiating the backswing with the shoulder turn, right elbow folding, and feeling a square club face in the backswing. If you follow these steps you'll feel much more compressed golf shots with solid impact.

Glad to hear it Tim. Yes it's pretty common to have that right elbow float away from you in the backswing.. In the square to square swing we want to keep the arms connected to the body rotation with minimal variations.

So essentially clubhesd square to arc entire time? Or is the clubhead actually closed to the arc?

Sam would you say Steve Stricker uses the swing you teach? Also I saw a Shell Wonderful World of Golf match from 2000 yesterday and I noticed Azinger was using that hold off swing you show at the end of this video. He was able to dial in right to the pins. Anyway that guy could really hit a bullet of an iron shot with laser like accuracy; probably still can!

I have found that when doing this if I set the right wrist quickly it’s much easier to feel the club face square the ark because it is nothing more than a reflection of my right palm which makes it much easier to control. Do you feel that setting the wrist too soon is a detriment but when I set that right wrist early I know right away where the clubhead is. Thanks

William Fickett it’s ok to feel the wrist set early as long as the face is square. The big key with that wrist set is that you’ll need to rotate your body really well through impact to avoid fat or flipped shots.

Hi Sam. Great videos. In this video you state the right elbow folds into the body. Is this the same feeling with a driver?

How far back to do you go? You'll go across the line too far back if I just hold the club face square, is it like chest high? Or does my shoulder rotate at the top (but that's would open the face)...
