Samlesbury hall has a fascinating history, from the original hall's demise at the hands of Robert the Bruce to its role as a sanctuary for persecuted Catholics during the Reformation. It also stood witness to one of England's most famous witch trials, the trial of the Pendle witches in 1612, with one of its occupants facing accusations of witchcraft. The building was saved from demolition in the 1920s and is both open to the public and a wedding venue.
