In the end we moved from the islands to find work and a better education.

Man that coco rice is fuccn fire. I’m black and my lady is Western Samoan and I was with her for 2 years before I got with her. Family didn’t care for me at first because I was an outsider and a nigga but man when her bro In law saw me when I was on the job he knew I was a good dude he told my fiancé now to bring me to dinner on Sunday so I went scared as fuc but I know it meant a lot to my lady so I went. Walked n got sized up my 8 but I just introduced myself because that’s not me. I’m no threat just a hard working weed smoker. He dad came from the back and I instantly introduced myself. No words from him but it was cool I had my lady and get bro in-law near. So I was seated prayer came along and food was served. My girl made my plate and stacked it up! I saw it like fucc I can’t it all this shit wtf is this and that in my head. I just man up and ate. I did ask for some red roster and after that I was loving it all. We shared the plate thank god because I gotta weak as stomach and I wasn’t tryna have possible looose guts. It was good man! Then comes the cocoa rice! Fucc me! Shit stole my mind body and soul! I had 3rds 😎 went to care brought the oz and immediately the brothers was all happy! Like what you smoke you don’t look like a you smoke. Shit I came in high I was scared Lolol. Now 5 years later it’s all love! Hugs and all I’m a Uce and it feels good to be accepted 😀 I love them all and it’s mutual. Her dad is my guy though boy I mane him smile 😊 each time I see him. He makes some fine cocoa rice to where now a nigga will eat thst shit and my girls when she brings it home. I ate here she was hot as fucc in my head but I’m like you can get it whenever bruh! So I’m out the dig houses but fucc it I’d go back for her cocoa rice 😎 savage loool but thanks for this segment. Really dope! I’ve learned that family is rich and it’s so true. No lies said. Do the cocoa rice deal. Your gonna enjoy it.

I'm from the Carson/Wilmas area and I recognize by the colors and hats that these guys probably went to Carson or Banning. The South Bay LA area has a great mix of Mexicans, Blacks, Samoans, and Filipinos in the area. Samoans are very welcoming, have great food, and have this great way of clowning on you but you always feel the love. As a Mexican in the area, I felt very lucky to have Samoan brothers and sisters in my community.

I worked with mad official Samoans.. I’m Italian from New York and they embraced me like I was family… dudes are gigantic in person and most people would assume cuz somebody’s big as shit that they can’t move… nah son Samoans got speed and they’re very nimble on their feet.. dudes are gigantic and can move like middleweights

I grew up in Long Beach in the 80's. Was "adjacent" to Sons of Samoa the whole time. As well as sets like East Side Longo, Insane Crip Gang, Satanas, LADS... etc etc etc. Just saying it was a "racial cornucopia" of gangsters. Anyone who grew up in that time and place knows backyard parties were the thing back then. There was always some kid, somewhere, who's parents were out of town and he was throwing a rager in his backyard. Five dollar cover. Like... ONE keg. Anyway, it wasn't unusual for some gangsters to show up to a party. Like I said, this was Long Beach in the 80s. You couldn't go anywhere without some gangsters showing up. But you never had to worry if the gangsters that showed up were samoan. They were always chill. The definition of "dont start nothin, wont be nothin." You could always count on the crips to fuck someone up. They were there to flex. You could usually bet on the vatos starting some mess. The flips were like rattlesnakes (hit or miss). But the polys? You never had to sweat it if they showed up. Even if they were rollin deep. They never felt like they had to prove anything. They just wanted to have fun. Didnt care who you were, what you looked like, or where you came from. As long as you were cool, they were cool. Where you at, my Somerset continuation school alumni?! Tell em how it used to be! 😆
