What I love about this video is how universal the process is. You can take this technique and make it work in a DAW using your own sampler and sampling techniques. I also love how you go about recording your drums. I also do this because I'm not very good at finger drumming lol but the results still turn out great 👍. Very well done ✅ Really loved this video for some reason. And I don't even have an MPC Stand Alone or use the software.

@@malobeats You’re welcome! Seriously, you explain how to do things on the MPC One very well (and also why, which is important too). I’m experimenting with beats and break/melody chops but I’m still searching for a kind of music style that feeds my needs if you know what I mean. In this case, I noticed that you made a powerful beat with just three elements; a punchy (tonal) kick that sounds good gives a special bounce to the beat without having to mess around with 808’s. Even when I come from the synthpop/synthwave corner, I see that this opens a whole new musical universe to me. Again, thank you for all your effort and work :)

I try to use a DAW as little as possible just to be awkward, I do the same process as you but after I have layered and got the tracks sounding as blended as possible, I resample just the drum tracks and either loop the new sample or chop up again so I can mix it up a bit for the hook. As long as you've chosen the correct accompanying drums I find this works well. Hope that made sense.

This is great man. When you talked about the beauty of live drums I was like "this guy gets it." I don't just love live drums, but samples for from real instruments as opposed to synths (although, technically, a synth is a real instrument but you know what I mean). There's just something about it that I can't describe. It's as if synthetic sounds are food for your ears but real sounds (not that synths are imaginary) are food for your heart. You make great music and letting us in on the process is very inspirational to me. I have a question regarding your MPC One. Does your MPC screen overheat on the left side rather quickly? Because my one does. I tried to replace it but that one had the same problem and in fact overheated even quicker. Do you have a solution to this? I wanna go all out with sampling by connecting with external gear and all but I'm afraid the heat will screw up my MPC, so I just stick to wav files. Any tips on how to keep my MPC cool and efficient? Thanks man!

Thank you so much I’m new to MPC and have found your channel so helpful! I was wondering if anyone could help with one question please? Once chopping a drum loop in regions or threshold etc.. and processing the 2 bar loop, is there away to assign the samples to different pads they default too? Would love kick snare hat1 hat2 on bottom row for example. Thanks so much!

Hey and thank you so much for stopping bye. That’s a great question that I am actually interested in finding out myself but I have not tried it yet, I do know that when you’re using your MPC with The DAW you are able to drag your samples to different pads from your sample poor area but I have not traded in standalone mode so I am not sure. Thank you for bringing this up because there’s some thing that I also have been curious about I’ll see if I can dig up some information on this. Thank you so much

Try assign your sample to one program then add a new program. Go back to your sample and chop it as above but do not shift convert all the slices instead play through your slices, find a kick and shift convert it and save on a pad of your choice on the blank program you added earlier . Repeat for each sound you want to save snare, hats etc.

Because you’ve sampled from somewhere else and created your own drum sound from it, does it still need clearing? Also when sampling, if the sounds get to a point, through effects and techniques, that you wouldn’t be able to notice that it was a sample, how would anyone know? In other words if I sampled any record to the point where you wouldn’t know it was a sample, does it need clearing and how would anyone be able to know? Sorry for long question and it’s delivery lol I’m just really curious and am new to this. Great videos. I’ve subscribed 😊
