Yeah man, thrift stores (op shops as we call them down here) always got a mountain of classical somewhere. I've got like 4-5 big box sets of 4 records each for like $3 each box. Anything classical on the RCA label you know is gonna have bangers. Anything with church organs I'll grab as well

Good stuff Kirk. I recently been using thrift store symphony/classical records for samples. I used some orchestra hits I sampled (from thrift store vinyl) for that fanfare intro on my joint I provided for the June sample challenge. Don't sleep on them classics. They are easy to come by and help me develop my ear for sampling, chopping, and creating ideas.

Yeah, cut and paste/collage has been the art medium since the 80's. It is re-purposing old dusty sounds.

I have that Stanislav Richter album on CD because I’m a big classical music fan. Nice work with those beats. There’s a vaporwave/experimental artist named Infinity Frequencies who samples and cuts up a lot of orchestral recordings for his albums.

Sampling classical to make Boom Bap has always been my go to as long as I’ve been making beats. I grew up as a hardcore HIPHOP head in the 90s but I also had season tickets to our local symphony with my Mother cause she wanted to bring some culture to my tastes. So when I finally got a sampler I started flippin all the great symphonies I grew up seeing live. I also bought a vinyl box set of Beethoven’s entire catalog off this 80 year old man for $20 too. My classical crates are pretty deep now. The layers of all the instruments in the orchestra makes for really textured loops I feel. Two of my fav uses of classical samples on big tracks would be Papparazzi by Xzibit, and Whutcha Want by Nine. Both superb examples of flipping the classical genre in the dopest of ways.🔊🤌🏼🔥 Props for making this vid. Peace Kirk.👊🏼
