Bill O'Reilly thinks a lot like Rob Corddry's character in "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay." Calipari: "I try to teach these kids responsibility, good sportsmanship and ethics that'll help them in their future careers." O'Reilly: "Yeah, but what do you do if they drink too much grape drink and then won't shut up in a movie theater?"

As a black man and someone that's from the UK i always get confused when i hear Americans talking about black people and hip-hop culture like it's somehow all that black people anywhere are known for and all that we are influenced by. Particularly as People like Bill O'Reilly always seem to make these attacks without ever mentioning the record executives responsible for signing particular artists and directing them to make particular records in accordance with capitalist market forces i.e people want it so record company supplies that product. Nor that the vast majority of the record buying public that drive the demand for such content are white. How is hip-hop culture solely the responsibility of black people if only black people brought Lil' Wayne records, for example he'd be broke as fuck. Lets not get this twisted if white people in america particularly teens obviously weren't buying this music do you think record companies would be throwing out these deals to people most of whom can't rap for shit anyway!?!?! Please it's like he's just using rap music as a rod to beat black people with. I'm from the UK and don't know what stats in the US are but here non married couples with kids are about 50/50 black to white with people of Indian/Pakistani descent being the most likely to to maintain the socially conservative ideal of married couple with children.. I very much doubt that between Blacks and whites in American that percentage wise blacks have more single parent families then whites. And i do no for a fact that the largest recipients of government assistance in the united states is taken by white people. This guy is full of so much shit!

A lot of the world does have a similar history of racism particularly parts of western European as the vast majority of these were involved in colonial conquest long before the United States of America even existed as a country but even with that in mind the USA holds the title for ridiculousness when it come to this issue. Its not a matter of "the Black Community"!? In fact what is that? Please point me to America's "White Community"? Its purely a matter of where the media wants to focus their attention. This isn't about News this is about Olds, telling people what they already think they know to be true.To help reinforce their own sense of superiority because that gets channel like Fox viewers and viewers = Ad revenue. Remember the vast majority of the consumers of this content are white people. And the music industry is a business like any other and follows the rules of supply and demand like any other free market capitalist enterprise. Maybe you need to ask yourselves as a country why you have such a desperate need to view African-Americans in such a one dimensional light that you will pay billions annually to consume media that simply reinforces such these negative stereotypes. And why these artists feel that the only way they can be successful as a musicians and gain popularity with the general record buying public is to fulfil those same expectation of behaviour The record companies and similarly the artists only produce what people want to purchase. This content is not made in a vacuum. Its popular because people buy it! My main point was that how does this become ignore when Bill O'Rielly decides that he will enter this discourse. I have never seen him mention that aspect of the industry ONCE! Its very disingenuous boarding on straight out deceit by omission, and makes it clear to me that O'Rielly is pushing a racist agenda when he brings up this topic. I can't see any other logical explanation for it. I have never seen he blame instances of white people committing crimes or acting badly as a negative consequence of listening to rap music despite being the majority of consumers! Suddenly it's all the "Black communities" fault . Not the white record company executives and senior A&R guys. Just the Hustler, Thug, Hip-hoppity gangster black guys who can only speak in for letter words.

+potato bill My intention is not to fear-monger; it is to bring to light the negative effects this type of music has for the general population of America. And I for one am filled with a sense of foreboding when I contemplate the fact that even people like you who seem rather educated and well informed do not see this vile "art" for what it truly is. The day you can rationally explain to me how "singing" about drugs, murder, etc. can be anything but detrimental to little Johnny in high school is the day I join your "I'm a victim" group.

I just looked at the UK basketball roster and there are only four more black players than white players. I listened to O'Reilly talking and all I heard was "the basketball players". Pretty sad that all these racists commenting on my post heard "the black basketball players". If certain everyday vocabulary terms have racial associations in your underdeveloped mind, that's on you, not him.
@MrOttopants
@MrOttopants 10 жыл бұрын
LacusTheDestroyer That's adorable how you pretend to not understand the whole thing. You think people are really that dumb that they don't understand the entire context of college basketball and race? How is that? You just assume people are too stupid to understand? You realize how dishonest you are? You say that there are only 4 more black players than white players. That means that there are 8 back players, and 4 white players. It looks different when you say it the way you did. And you did that on purpose. Do you think people are too stupid to see that? Additionally, the total number of minutes for the team was 8075, the highest number of minutes for a white player was Jon Hood- 47 minutes total. So, your contention that someone is wrong to look at this in a racial way is just bullshit. You demonstrate your willingness to be dishonest with numbers, and you discredit your entire argument.

Public schools cut music program due to budgetary reasons: Rap music was created; next came financial cuts to art programs: Tag artists emerged; Finally, team sports programs (which teach leadership, pride, team work, discipline, comradery, etc) were deemed too expensive: gangs filled the void for teenaged angst. What cost to these children we failed and what cost to society? Yet, in the face of extreme adversity, art forms were still created and the need to belong still existed (albeit gangs are no substitute for healthy, intact families). Could Bill "O'really?" make a positive from such negative situations that now impact 99.99% of the rest of us?! And I'm just talking about providing decent, safe education in the wealthiest country in the world...

Bill O'Reilly is an individual just like the rest of us and he is an individual that understands the constitutional rights of the American individual. I understand the issues that you bring up and the way that you guys understand Bill O'Reilly, but occasionally everyone says something dumb and out of context. Reflection and understanding can be understood differently depending on an individuals background. The coach responds effectively because he is focused on one topic, not all of the topics. Bill O'Reilly is approaching the topic on several different levels and should be scrutinized on those issues. Think about the national effect that each individual has by themselves and not the individual effect that each individual has on the nation. stop talking about what people do wrong and start talking about how they can do right.

*Here's some constructive criticism*: Play the ENTIRE clip so that your audience can get a proper grasp of what is being discussed BEFORE you start interjecting your personal opinion. Stopping the clip every few seconds to make a remark about every few words is incredibly annoying and greatly weakens any perspective you are trying to establish. Also, I saw nothing "racist" about O'Reilly's questions. They were properly asked in an effort to guide the conversation, allowing Calipari to provide responses that expressed his tools for success. Perhaps, you would have understood this had you actually listened to the entire clip instead of screaming "FOUL" (pun intended) after every few words.

Young people will be good people if they are given all the tools and positive reinforcement they need to be good people in a healthy environment. It doesn't typically matter what background they came from or traumas - they are not to be considered damaged goods. If they have positive role models who see their great potential and reinforce that, they can have hope, doing and being remarkable. If there are those instead in their immediate lives - like Billo Really - automatically thinking the worst of them, they are having a disadvantage imposed upon them that has lasting negative consequences. That would be unfair to young people.

Jeff Warren and many like him has fathered over 650 out of wedlock children with hundreds of women in the polygamist region in the west. In the Appalachian regions the same holds true; now in these area most of these people don't fill out Census forms, but they use most of the Welfare in America. Therefore, because these communities are closed off its difficult to tell who's the father of whom. But one thing is certain the out of wedlock birthrate in the White community is a lot higher than Known; so tell O'Really if he wasn't so concern about the black community, he could find out what's happening in his!

The worst part is I agree with the point this video is making yet it pissed me off to suffer through it!! You're not as smart as you think you are!!

The only thing I wish was different about this episode.. just play the interview without continuing the interruptions. Ok, Bill O'Reilly ranks as one of the most ignorant white people I've ever heard. Its so painfully obvious. If he even had a very tiny clue, he would never ever talk about black people again. Absolutely amazing!

At the 7:35 mark or so when O'Reilly says "With the hustlers everywhere" Callipari doesn't say "who?", he says "phew" like acknowledging that's a real problem. I've watched a few of your videos and I just skip almost part where you talk. You are not meant to be doing this.

Sounds like today's Democrats. Calipari is like Donald Trump. People go after him but he keeps knocking the idiots down

12:50...WTH? Black people usually throw their food at each other in restaurants while screaming, yo motherfucker at reach other. Must have been a slow night.

I have to argue that, in general, rap sucks way too much to be effectively an influence either way. ;)

Maybe, you should let the clip play through, and THEN do your annotations.... It's annoying having you split this so many times...
