Today I review a brand new mic from Samson, the Samson G-Track Pro. This is a multi-pattern, hi-resolution version of the original G-Track. Thank you demonstrating how it sounds from different distances. Some reviewers don't tell you the distance and the mic itself is on a table "somewhere" in front of them, but you can't see where that is.

I was trying to evaluate this microphone at Best Buy and could not decide if I should spring for it, but your review prompted me to go ahead and go for it. Wow! The audio quality is much better than I was expecting! You know how Amazon usually has a better price than the store? Well in this case Amazon wanted about $40 more that Best Buy, so I got it at BB for $99.99. Thanks for your review, which was excellent! Subscribed!

I found my mic! Thanks for always making great reviews! I was back and forth between not spending a lot on the Neewer NW-3U or investing in this and getting better audio. After listening to them both side-by-side I decided this is the mic for me! Everything about it just screams "YES!" :D

@@Marshark50 do not have kids yet but mic is good. I've been using it for a few years and haven't felt the need for an upgrade with what I use it for (made lots of KZfaq videos and music with it)

Thank you for this review of this mic. This is by far the most thorough evaluation I have seen thus far on KZfaq and I appreciate your due diligence on showing different scenarios. I am planning on doing streaming playing music and now I have a really good idea of how things sound with this mic.

OMG, you have helped me immensely! I have owned this for two years and did not know about the ability to use it for computer speakers. In fact, I thought it was dumb when sometimes it would "switch" automatically when I plugged it in but you explained it-I have to put the 3.5 into the Samson back and then the volume knob no from of it controls it@ Nice. Thank you. Fun.

Wow, what a wonderful review, especially when compared to your prior review of the original G-Track GM1U. This one sounds much richer\deeper (the original has a thin sound), more sensitive\louder, and has a much quieter preamp! Too bad the omni pattern sounds bad\weird and the bi-polar drops some of the richness. Great job Samson, and Great job, Podcastage! Thank you! :) Subscribed ;)

It has higher digital potential. Yeti is easier and sounds better out of the box. It's like a mid range camera and a professional camera. It's about who's using it.

@@timook7797 it's a shame he didn't mention it but that 50 to 20000 references the flat section of the frequency response. If you look at the actual diagram it is far superior to the blue yeti which boast 20 to 20000 but is all jumpy and pathetic.

Haven't used this one for a while, but this morning I am using it to try out my new Elgato Low Profile boom arm and it really works great. You do need this mic closer to your mouth than the built-in stand will put it (unless you're really short, or have a very high desk!), and this Elgato arm is a good match for it. Really nice sounding.

Almost everything Samson makes is great for the price. I bought a pair of their studio reference headphones fully expecting to be disappointed. I wasn't. Best cans I've heard south of $150. They only cost $30. Their dynamic mic with the interchangeable capsules is fucking awesome at $40 as well.

Hey! Really like this mic, and your videos are very thorough. This mic has a very nice sound quality I like better than the yeti, it is very present and crisp when you speak close to it. My only concern is the background noise. I have an open room. What would be a better mic in terms of background noise cancellation? I want an all-around mic for making videos, gaming on discord, possible music in the future. I also want to be able to stand it on my table and not let all the keystrokes go through while gaming. I also move around a bit while sitting at my desk. If desk standing is not good, then what arm would you recommend for this mic?

This thing is definitely better than the Yeti (since I'm sure a lot of people will ask about that). This has a nice tone to it without sounding muffled or what I call "scratchy" (don't know the correct term, but like a headset mic or smartphone mic where the audio has a noticeable hiss and thinness). The Blue Yeti (the standard USB only version) has both of those issues in every test I've heard. It's still not as crisp sounding as a decent XLR mic, but it's a nice middle ground since it's better than most popular USB mics. I think this is a bit nicer sounding than the C01U as well. Plus, you know, it says it has 1-inch capsules which is definitely a plus since most multipattern USB mics use 16mm capsules.

Hi @Podcastage thank you so so much for your wonderfully in-depth reviews! I think I've watched nearly all of them now in search of a microphone! However I'm still lost so I'd like to ask for your opinion. Would you recommend the G-track pro or a Zoom H2N for interview/two way podcast recording? The G-track pro seems ideal because of the bidirectional polar pattern, but equally, the Zoom H2N is alluring because it seems so versatile, especially because it's portable and doesn't need an external power pack. I'm really confused as to what to choose! Would really appreciate your help. Thank you!

I love your reviews and how you make comparisons fairly. I decided to go with the Samson G-Track Pro. It sounds awesome in recording video and audio. I just have one question though. How can I get the sound to where it is not just playing voice on one speaker? Hopefully it's not a defect because I really like this mic. Hope you can help!

You could probably turn the mic sideways and turn on Figure 8 mode to simulate a "streo" effect... don't quote me on that tho xD

Could I attach this usb mic directly to an iPhone with the proper adapter and record on an iso recording app? Also does the interface that comes with it give the capability to import tracks to record along with?

Well into my second year with this. Just keep the recording level at 25%. It's great, good highs and lows. Love it.

i love this channel , even though it is not my play to have all of these MICs , and im not interested in MICs in general , but i love the way you produce it , thx alot for the cool channel , and i have one question if you have the time to answer , " if i need to stream live games "twitch, youtube and facebook" and sometimes i do record games for youtube channel which one of the 2 Microphones would you suggest for me , the blue-yeti or Samson (depending on the quality not the price) im very confused and i dont know cause im new with MIC stuff .

There is no adapter for a normal microphone stand in the box. Some websites have a picture of it, but it's not in de box and I can't find a shop where to buy it.

You should do a fan test in the background to show how well it can limit noises like that and how far away stuff like that is what worries me especially when your spending money on it.

At 1:10-1:14 you sound like a tv commercial ad on rick and Morty with that line. Hey, does the Gtrack pro fit in a samson sp01 shock mount? I love the mic but occasionally the mic will start blinking red and I assume its indicating that it picked up loud noises but sometimes nothing is playing and stays blinking till I unplug/plug back in and I don't like doing that

I’m trying to find a good streaming mic that won’t pick up my fan/ac noise in the background. The fan is usually set to low but my ac I have no control over its noise. It gets super hot in my room so it’s a no no to turn any of this off. I wanted to get this mic but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to adjust it so it’s less sensitive while streaming. Any tips or advice would be very appreciated

if a line-in is plugged into the 1/4" input, can it be heard through the headphone jack?.. for example, i have a surround sound headphone device.. could i plug that into the 1/4" input and hear the game audio through the headphone interface on the mic?.. if i can do that, since im also looking for a headphone amp.. then sold

Mine did not come with a mount, I don't want to use a shock mount as I use mine for streaming and that would interfere with visuals. Can't find one online to replace it and don't know what size the threads are to buy one aftermarket. Any help would be great!

I now have this microphone. My friends tell me my voice sounds great, but I myself hear static in the back live as well as in the recordings. Do you have any idea what's going on?
