I would run sellotape on the glass prior to removal. It helps the glass come off in one piece.

You need to put the LCD display in machine afterwards so need to be off the board

It's not the heat gun you have to worry about, you can use a hair dryer and still get the screen off. Your problem will stand with trying to get the bubbles out from the glass and led without that machine.
