They chose an intermediate config so that it is going to not eat a lot of die space but still do fine on general usage. But believing AMD can somehow do a mobile gpu from first try and nbeat snapdragon, arm at their own game is just noob level. At the very best rdna gpu will be fast, which mali can also be, but consume a shit ton of power. I mean really, AMD can't do laptop gpus well and you're expecting them to deliver the best mobile gpu from first try, yeah, dream on

That doesn't prove anything and doesn't guarantee in any way that AMD can deliver a gpu that fits 5w and beats the established players. Doing performance is easy. Doing it in a tight power budget is a massive challenge. And amd is barely able to do it in laptops... highly doubt the battery life on an exynos phone with rdna gpu will be good.

@@LL-fy8qf Nope. SD 888 and Exynos 2100 both have the same cores, but the Exynos one is clocked higher. That's why it can beat the 888 by a few seconds. Although this raises some interesting questions about thermals and stability of the 2100.

You can just compare it with A14 video with this one upto unreal test. (spoiler alert A14 does it in 1:01 sec whereas 888 gets it done in 1:09, so A14 is like 14% faster)

Lmfao not really. It failed. The phones cost the same amount and the exynos failed. By the time Samsung gets Amd gpu tech to work properly.. Qcom will have already moved on with their custom cpus. Exynos such at battery life and modems and ai.

Exynos will take alot longer for them to fully integrate Amd gpu tech and even then their ai benchmarks suck. Not to mention they suck at power efficiency.

@@ashishpatel350 from the videos I've seen based off early testing, it looks to perform about the same as the 888. It even ran cooler. I don't think anyone will mind if you can't tell the difference on everyday task and gaming.

And if you look at the teardown on the Exynos model, there's sufficient thermal cooling applied with the S21 Ultra, it has graphite pads all over, with thermal paste in between the graphite padsand CPU+RAM. Then there's also the graphene vapor chamber this time around. It really is a beast now!

Exynos heating issues for international

They clocked Exynos at a higher hertz to make the processors even. And Exynos still has the problem of breaking down performance when the chip gets hot, which it does way more fastly than the Qualcomm version. I doubt the end is near.

@@71igfffv exactly 👍 the exynos 990 has enough power but the battery life sucks, that's why I was more interested in the new CPU governor they announced with the new s21 series.

Not only was the Exynos 2100 running on a lower hz rate, it was also using a higher resolution 2325x1080 (weird number) and the snapdragon 888 was running in 2180x1080 which is FullHD. And as most gamers know, higher resolution means less framerates.
