In the time where we had back panels on phones that gave us access to a SWAPPABLE battery (without any special tools or removing adhesive that is), everything was accessible at the turn of a Phillips screwdriver. But that had to go as phones got larger batteries, more cameras and so on. Those high-end solutions often require proprietary connectors and protocols. And lastly, companies like apple just give independent repair providers the middle finger and say "Fuck you. Even though you spent like 2k on a laptop, you can't have an independent repair shop fix a blown chip for 100$. Instead, you will have to ship it to us where we will wipe all your data and maybe refuse to do the repair because someone was in there before us.".I mean, changing the fan on an XBox doesn't enable software piracy, and still, they charge like 300$ for that and try to kill independent repair. Imagine if your car dealership was like: "Yo, someone was in here before and changed the oil. We can't fix your cars worn brakes, you'll have to buy a new one".
