Awesome video man! I just got the Alienware 3423DW and it's an incredible 34in 175hz QD-OLED monitor. I can only imagine how epic it must be to game on that G9!

hey man, can you make a video about text fringing and readability? there are a lot of videos criticizing qd oled regarding text rendering, but i know that Samsung changed the sub pixel layout in this monitor, so I'd like to see what you think

The game looks impeccable on my 42 inch LG C2 as well (16:9). 32:9 has sadly been poorly supported for years now. I got the first G9 from Samsung but use it mainly as a dual 27 inches for production/work stuff now. If i go wide screen again it will be 21:9. It's more or less the only resolution modern aaa games support it seems outside 16:9. Cyberpunk etc just runs 21:9 and stretches the screen to fill the 32:9 resolution making the sides looks weird.

Been checking out some reviews for the screen and your channel by far the most enjoyable to watch. Would love to see you play ORI will of the wisps, Returnal, jedi survivor. Re7 would also look incredible with the blacks. Definitely going to sell my neo and buy this later in the year.

@@LordCivickOG Can you please test Fortnite on this monitor I want to see how it'll look and how smooth it will feel using this monitor. I'm planning on getting this monitor and I play Fortnite mostly high refresh rate DirectX12 with all low settings for the most FPS possible with the game set to Native screen resolution. Can you please use these settings when you testing the game if possible?

This is why I’ll be pairing mine with the 55 inch Sony a95L when it’s released. For my personal movies,ps5 and pc games that don’t support 32:9 lol

I have the previous Odyssey G9, and I spend 90% of my time with Picture by Picture mode treating it like two 27" 16:9 monitors running 2560x1440. This is partly to do with my 3060ti not being able to push many of the games I play at 5120x1440, but more so to the lack of super ultra-wide support in most games. But as far as immersion, i can say this. I played both Subnautica and Breathedge fullscreen, and literally got motion sickness because it was so immersive. I probably sit much closer to the monitor though because of my desk layout (about 18-24 inches away), which helps the immersion as well, but i wouldn't recommend it.

UW monitors are basically FOV hax... It looks so nice. Have you tried putting your HUD on the left corner? I bet it'd look even better.

Hi Lord, love your videos, been watching them. I was wondering is it possible to actually record HDR gameplay with this monitor from your camera? With a good HDR game say like Sea of Thieves? Also, any MMO content on this monitor would be nice to see as well.

It is possible yes but it takes hours to encode a video in HDR and most people don’t have capable displays or even watch in that format so I don’t usually upload that way. And yeah I can do both sea of thieves and a mmo game.

What a bummer this game doesn't have a native support for 32:9 aspect ratio, I'm playing the thing on my Asus PG35VQ 21:9 monitor and playing the game with everything maxed out at 1000 nits HDR is a f. blast. Nice setup by the way

You should turn off ALL DLSS options in this game. I also have a 4090 and I have DLSS off and resolution scale turned up to 150% and still get 120fps locked. All forms of DLSS, including DLAA in this game make it look way worse because of how their algorithm handles motion in this game. If you turn on DLSS or DLAA and zoom in and watch things on your character moving, such as when the barbarian leans back and forth as he's standing still, you will see the constant blurring of the textures as the algorithm tries to compensate for the motion. Turn DLSS off and that horrible blurring effect stops and you're left with a proper native render. You have a 4090, there's really not reason to have DLSS on in this game with that card.

@@LordCivickOG No problem. DLSS and Frame generation should generally only need to be used when you're not getting acceptable framerates with native rendering.

@@ryutou-ki4dl This is used to craft Nightmare Sigils, and obtained when you salvage Nightmare Sigils. There’s a catch, however - you cannot craft Nightmare Sigils until you clear a Tier 3 Nightmare Dungeon. The game doesn’t tell you this at any point, and there’s no clear means of progression from lower-tier Nightmare Dungeons to higher ones. You just have to run Nightmare Dungeons, kill World Bosses and perform "Grim Favor" iconGrim Favors for the Tree of Whispers until a tier 3+ Nightmare Sigil drops. It’s greyed out for me at the occultist so I gotta keep grinding I guess ☹️

😊 Don't play 21:9 for a long time, otherwise you will definitely get burn-in on the edges "game-black bars" in approximately 2000-3000 hours (reference: RTings burn-in).
