Nice, I've been repairing devices for about 8 yrs now and I have done this repair on this exact tablet twice without removing the screen. I did exactly what you got done in the back to remove the plastic housing covering the port. Then there is a thin piece of metal with the two screws. If you use a Dremel tool you can get rid of the screws to get the charge port board out. Then solder up a new port and glue down at the bottom when done. I have video too bad can't attach to this comment. I need to say nice work! It does take a lot of skill to remove this screen without damaging it 💯

Thanks for this video, I just fixed my son's tablet using this procedure. This post is a little bit long, but it's reminders to myself as much as info for anyone taking this on. Care must be taken down around the home button, the capacitive back and menu button ribbons can stick to the back of the screen as you try and lift it out. A missing part of the process is the entire subframe must also be unscrewed from the screen side which allows you to push the frame from the inside towards the screen side, away from the bracket you see from the battery side (the one you cut away). Without having to undo every last part of the board, you can still push it out enough down near the charge port so that you can push the port across and out - it is tight but it does come out, this bit saves a lot more disassembly. After loosely reassembling for bench testing charging was now consistent but really slow. The power button didn't work unless I pressed the back in a bit (pushes in a back removed sensor). When I did get the tablet going it went to 'slow charge'. I clipped in the back properly, you need to press all around the place and you feel all these little clicks. After that, slow charge went away and it started picking up charge percentage points quickly. I had taken the back off previously trying to see if I could fix the charge port, and after that I only got slow charge, this is probably because it was never clipped back together properly?? Anyway, it was only after charging stopped completely that I gained the courage to take this on. Not that hard to get right really, just don't get tempted to rush at any point.

I've worked on several Galaxy Tablets and it's a pain in the ass to remove the glass because the adhesive used on these is strong. Luckily most of the ones I work on already had cracked screens. I find that it's much easier to remove the glass when you stick multiple guitar picks around the areas you've lifted, to prevent the glass from sticking back down. That metal tool you stuck between the frame and the glass is also a pain in the ass to use. It's sharp on the edges and will damage a devices frame and or remove the paint from the back of the digitizer. I threw mine away before it ever had a chance to do that. I've also found that when heating up a device via a hot air gun / blow dryer, it cools down quickly. One method that I have found to keep a device nice and hot / warm, is to put it out in the sun (face down to protect LCD) for about 10-15 min. It will stay hot enough, long enough for you to work on it, because the entire device is warm which takes longer to cool down than warming just the glass.

Great video. I just replaced the battery in my S2 by removing the back. Why do some videos show technicians taking off the front of the Tab S2 to replace a battery? Anyhow, now the power button on my device isn't working well. I have to press hard to make it work. Obviously, I must have done something wrong.

Hi do you have a schematic for this phone I have one of these and it does not turn on and there is no short so im guessing it is the power ic but I cant find the chip on the board so I need a schematic if anyone has one that would really help

Have you tried using a heat lamp? By changing the distance you can control the temperature. Using foil to protect the screen while heating. Just a suggestion.

What do you do about the damaged adhesive from the opening process?

Do I have to apply some sort of glue for the front cover to put it back together?

I just brake all the plastic cover off on the charging port then put in a new one . Didn’t have to take off the screen. Thanks god

You can also buy only the charging port for those who know soldering, the charging port is $0.30 and the charging board is $15 !!

I just drilled out the screws and cut all that plastic back. I hate removing samsungs screens that have the buttons on both sides of the home button.

Would a Screen heating station like the Unionrepair CPB one help to remove these screens ?

Actual pro tip, 99% alcohol will help immensely when removing screens like this. and i would NEVER use that iseasamo thing for that, razor and picks only.

Yep samsung is turning into apple and its fucks me off.Got exact same junk on my desk..it charges when pressure is applied so will have to do it overnight..no way am doing this lol
