On his it says "Disable hardware overlays", in mine it says "Turn off hardware overlays" just incase anyone else had trouble finding it in Developer Options like I did at first. Thank you to the creater of this video by the way, saved from a months long headache from my screen flickering and going going black constantly, for several months now the only way I knew to correct it was to shut off the phone and turn it back on, and it wasn't a very long term fix, I'd have to do it all the time. Much appreciated, thank you, thank you, thank you!

It worked for my screen thank you. I thought it was water damage. Scared me so much. Thank u for that. I dont know how long it will last until the flickering resumes but thank you for the temporary fix

To avoid flickers dont low your brightness level always keep it to middle or higher.They will go away in a week or 2

Mate you're a champ. I got duped into buying a new screen (not a Telstra shop) then phone started doing it again esp when it's very cold or dark background image. Service provider Telstra store advised yes there are some issues with the s5 Galaxy. They would have pretended to send it away, kept it there, taken 30 seconds to fix it and probable charged me freight plus service $150 and I could have fixed it myself. Ok so before the flickering was so bad that 1 in 10 "turn on"s would work. After i did thid there was no flickering, only such a slight level that u wont be able to notice it unless u stare at it. THANK YOU SO MUCH, LEGEND!!! u saved me from getting beat by my parents for "cracking" my screen. It is legit guys, go to my channel as proof that im not a bot i watch mr beast and stuff.

Thanks god their is youtube and people like you. I was getting so mad at my phone won't even wanting to light the screen when it's locked and I press the power of button. A lot of nervs wasted 😵😧😢😭. I hope that works for years on.

Thanks for the clear instruction. I have to wait to see if really works for my phone, but the first attempts to open the phone are possitive. Today I missed several calls because the screen only flashed and went black again.

possible solution; put brightness to maximum for 1 month and when you can't use maximum brightness then turn the brightness to minimum and put it back on as soon as you can. Puting the brightness in the middle that is when screen display is doing the most work because it has to give the brightness you requested and usually after some years the phone starts to have flickering problem because of it. Puting the brightness to maximim the screen display will get the back the balance it needs and will stop flicker.

My recent problem with my samsung a5 6, is that it keeps on flickering, the power button is not working and I think it's down to me downloading an app that acts a a power button! I think my phone is programmed that way still even though I deleted that app already! It's really annoying, the flickering! :(

At the Verizon Wireless location they were more than happy to sell be a replacement phone. I suspected there was a setting that could fix it.
