What a coincidence that Iam looking for a lense now and recognizing you being in Finland. Are you from Germany? Good review btw , thinking about to get that lense.

Hi interesting Review, i also ordered the lens and tested it, but i had a quite different experience with it! The lack of contrast and overall poor performance against bright lights really disappointed me. i also found the strong vignetting not very pleasing (could also be noticed at 5:22 and 7:53 in your video), furthermore it does make the corners 1-2 stops darker causing noise corners. I know the lens is cheap and small which are big pros for the lens but in the end the cons of lacking IQ and build quality were to big for me to keep the lens. I also have the feeling that there is quite a big difference from copy to copy, bc the reviews for this lens range from great to crappy. I tested it on a a7 III so maybe this is also an important point. nonetheless nice review!

how is autofocus on video? can you use it on gimbal? you can trust it on autofocus on video?

Yes, you can use it on a Gimbal, how the AF is I show in this video and in the linked MSR Tent Video.

I'm not sure whether to buy this lens or the sigma 30mm for my sony a6300 for a short film. It's for one shot, and I like the 30mm but the 24mm gives me more freedom so I can crop it later. Which do you recommend? Which do you think has the best auto-focus? Thank you!

Hej Ana, I don’t have the 30 mm so can’t comment on it. As you said, the 24 mm gives you more creative freedom and you can crop in, and the AF is pretty good. I also imagine the Samyang is cheaper (?) so maybe that are enough good arguments for it? What is your short film going to be about?

@@HendrikMorkel Thanks for your opinion! the only things that are leaving me with any doubt is the vignette and the distortion... Do you think that can be fixed in post production? It's going to be about dissociative identity disorder :) ( sorry if my english is not perfect, i'm from portugal. )

It will work, though I’d go for something wider - 12 mm to 18 mm is what I use and prefer.

Had this lens, great images but poor build quality. Back glass shattered while it was in its original bag. Now, can't find any service around Europe except Netherland and I am afraid that shipping cost and repair in total will be expensive..
